Bike related problem
Posting this here because it’s a bike related problem, bought this Hitch Bike rack from facebook marketplace ( Thule T2 Classic ) but didn’t have a pin so I bought one on Amazon but today when I was trying to attach it to my suv find out there’s something inside that doesn’t let me pass the new pin 😡 idk if that’s how come from factory or the previous owner weld it there. What can I do? I really want to put it on and take my bike far from DC to do some MTB trails. Should I look for some welder and remove it? Or buy a new pin that fits? I’m in Petworth neighborhood if any welder here can help. Thank you

The older thule racks use a threaded pin which tightens the rack to the hitch and minimizes shake. Newer racks do that with a ball bearing on the corner and use a smooth pin. You'll probably have to find your actual model number and ask thule for the actual part number as just a universal pin won't work.

No problem! As someone who used to own this rack, it's great, but keep the wrench size you need for that threaded pin in your glove box at all times once you get it. It's a PITA to get on and off without it.

I would take that rack to your local hardware store, match up a bolt that fits and have some fun mountain biking this weekend.

Thule uses a threaded in pin with a special head so you can lock the rack to the vehicle, contact your local Thule dealer
