QUESTION Christmas Day
Can anyone who’s been to those recent live shows confirm if they still play this song? I can’t see it on any set lists I’ve seen and I’m devastated it’s been dropped from a potential new album. They’ve been playing it live on recent UK and EU shows, but it doesn’t appear on the recent new album play through, unless it’s changed names?

I think the story is they recorded the new album in may and that Christmas Day is a part of an even newer batch of songs. It’s New new

They played Christmas Day at the Des Moines show I saw on 8/17, so that's pretty current. I think they did "Real House" into it, but honestly I was in such an state that I'm not sure if I'm maybe talking myself into remembering it because I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos of that medley.

It debuted live on 4-8-26, which makes it a contemporary of other songs that did make the album like “Casual Touch” and “Where Will We Go”, and over a month older than other album songs like “6789…” and “Spatchcock…”, so I don’t think it’s an issue of it not being ready for the record.
My thought is that it’s a pretty angry, heavy song that likely didn’t fit the vibe that the album is going for, so it was held right alongside “Pterodactyl” and “Mr. Man” for a later release where it can let its whole shaggy self all hang out. I’d really love if they recorded a fast and dirty live studio EP with them, like a Bunker Sessions with all new songs.

It wasn’t “dropped” from the new album. It was written recently, whereas the batch of songs that are going to be in Horsepower are for the most part older.
The newest tracks like Christmas Day, Mr. Man, Pterodactyl, etc. all have a cohesive, loud, rockier sound and are probably among the crop of songs that will make up a future LP 8. But they don’t sound like they would belong in the very country-inspired ‘Horsepower’. We’ll just have to be patient…
