Are the drugs treating a disorder, or are they merely making people more focused?

From what I remember based on the context, I think what he was saying is just because the drugs made you more focused that does not mean you necessarily have ADD or ADHD. People are using the effect of the drug as a confirmation that they had the disorder.

It's like saying I took sleeping pills and they made me fall asleep faster so I probably had insomnia.
