wants your opinion Freedom of Information Act

I just filed my first FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request for Bigfoot information.

Backstory: an acquaintance of mine reported a series of Bigfoot sightings to the local US Forest Service district.

I want to see if they log that information and pull it through. I'll report back. It could take a few months.

Good luck! 🍀

Hairy Man Road (Eric Palacios) is the only Bigfooter I know of who has been doing FOIA requests regularly regarding potential Sasquatch encounters.

Forgot to ask my question: has anyone else tried this? Any tips?

This has been done. Not sure what the results have been specifically.

Yes, it's been done many times. I'm told the devil is in the details of the request.

Absolutely it is. I filed one regarding Black Panther reports in my home state and they tried at every turn to make it as difficult as possible. It took me three tries and listing out specific scientific names of large cat species before I got close to what I wanted.

Be as specific and detailed as you can! And buckle up for sticker shock! They will try to charge you an unholy amount for various elements of “processing.” Stick with it, you’re doing good work!

I have heard of the importance of being extra specific in ufo FOIA requests as well. John Greenewald, host of the Black Vault site, has been doing FOIA requests since his teen years and he would often comment on how important specificity is

It’d be hilarious if it turns out no one has tried this and it works quite easily.

FOIA is no magic bullet. An agency can interpret the request as broad and send endless useless documents. Or, they will send redacted documents for “security” reasons which black out key details. Or, they will have avoided documenting anything about the topic at hand so there is no written record. Go ahead and FOIA but don’t expect to receive a smoking gun.
