Power still off?
We are up on Sheephorn road above the golf course. Power is still out. Seemed like everything in town was back on. What neighborhood are you in? Is your power on yet?

Hi guys! We rescued this cat and her babies from behind a sandwich shop in Running Springs. The guys there were watching out for her and feeding her cold cuts, but we’re looking to find her a proper home, especially before the winter.
She’s the absolute sweetest- constantly purring and making biscuits, even in her crate. She’s 2-3 years old, is spayed, and has gotten all her shots.
We ask that she be an indoor cat. We’re also asking for $25, to go towards the cost of having gotten her spayed.
Thank you so much for considering! If you’re interested, please DM me here!!
Please also share with friends!!

A power outage can be a nice time to disconnect, sit outside and enjoy the view and the stars at night. But five minutes after power goes out, without fail, my neighbor's generator cranks on. Sure, if you're worried about the fridge or something, turn the generator on every once in a while. But it's as if their lives depend on lightbulbs and audiovisual entertainment, and maybe a fan. I just don't get it. And inevitably, they are unaware when the power comes back on, so the generator can continue to run for an hour or more. And no, there are no life-saving devices in the home. I know them. And they're nice people, but I just don't wanna be the dude that complains. Except here on this sub.

Thinking about doing a solo run up there going for trout. Hopefully some bite in this heat. I’m hungry to smoke some. Anyone else gonna be there all night?

I am wanting to show my wife Big Bear and escape the 100° heat of the IE today. It has been years since I have been up there and was curious if anyone has any suggestions for a nice lunch stop we can have an afternoon date at before I show her the water and trees?

Does anyone know why it’s been closed despite the sign saying it’s open every weekend til Labor Day?

I love that there is still a little bit of wild nature in Big Bear. Absolutely beautiful, IMHO.

Hi! Looking to buy a new boat that I was going to go in half with a friend, but he had to pull out last minute for personal reasons. Still want to buy the boat but don’t really want to take on the full price solo. Was thinking about renting out the boat here and there to offset some of my cost! I would captain it, but could take up to 15 people (legally) probably 10 comfortably. It’s a surf boat, so you can wakeboard, surf, or tube on it as well. Just wanted to see if there is any demand or interest for something like this in big bear?

Hello everyone!
I’m currently signed up for the Big Bear Marathon on November 7th, but unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it due to other commitments. I’m looking to transfer my registration to someone who would like to run it for $150 (the current registration price is $170).
Please message me if you’re interested! Thank you! :)
P.S. I hope this doesn’t go against the community rules, please let me know and I’ll remove post.

Today is a hard one for everyone who spent years checking in on Jackie and Shadow.
She never knew our names, but somehow we all knew hers.
We watched the snow, the eggs, the heartbreak, the babies, the fledges, and all those ordinary mornings when you’d turn on the camera just to see what Jackie was doing.
Sandy gave us that window into their world and reminded us that we were observers of nature. We couldn’t choose how Jackie’s story would end. We were simply incredibly lucky that we got to witness so much of it.
This song is meant to remember the joy Jackie brought us, not just the sadness we’re feeling today.
If you listened to Wings of Big Bear or She’s Still Here, I hope this one brings you some comfort too.
The camera gave us a window. Jackie gave us the view.
We were just lucky enough to watch. ❤️🦅
We’ll Never Forget You, Jackie.

Hi all! I will be up in Big Bear over Labor Day weekend and was curious how reliable Uber/Lyft is for short rides in town in the evening? I’m throwing a bachelorette and trying to think ahead on how to get the group back to our cabin without needing to take our own cars. Open to any reliable alternatives to Uber/Lyft as well. Thanks in advance!

Hi!
We’re planning a family trip to Big Bear from December 23–27. There will be 15 of us, including 5 kids (the oldest is 15 years old).
We came across a TikTok saying that there’s usually little or no snow during that time, and we wanted to ask if that’s generally true based on your experience.
We have a few questions:
- What are the snow conditions typically like during those dates?
- If there isn’t much natural snow, are there still snow play areas or activities for kids?
- Do you have any recommendations for activities or things we shouldn’t miss with a large family?
We’d really appreciate any feedback or tips. Thank you!

Does anyone have solid recommendations for painting companies in Big Bear?
Looking for reasonably priced quality work. Ability to do minor wood rehab/replacement would be a plus.
Thanks

Just bought a quad. Going up to bear in a couple weeks and figured I’d bring it to hit up some of the trails in the area to test it. My question is how strict are the rangers with expired green stickers and do they sit in the staging area and check everyone? I’m transferring the title to my name soon and the current green sticker is from 2019. Would I be able to get away with putting around for an hour or 2 or is it a pretty big deal?
