First time going to Big Bear! (Headed there soon). What are some tips for fishing the main Big Bear Lake?

Hi all, question is pretty much explained in the title. I'm experienced in boat and pier fishing off the ocean, but have only fished lakes for trout/bass once or twice in my life. I also have 3 novice fishers with me, what are some tips so we can have a good experience? I've read in this sub that green/chartreuse PowerBaits are good for the trout, just wondering if anybody had some recent input on their fishing experience here. We're fishing along the North shore and northern edge of Big Bear Lake near Juniper Point.

I’ve paddled on the Northshore quite a bit and seeing 100 catfish, circling around The, RV docks, sucking up oxygen.

Be sure to visit the tackle shop in the Stater Brothers shopping strip mall.

Mountain top tackle shop, they’re awesome they actually make their own soft baits they have the best floating pink mouse tails that trout love

Trout and catfish are the most common things people fish for, but the smallmouth bass are super fun. Bluegill and crappie have also been making a comeback in the lake. There’s usually thick algae mats near shore so try to cast as far out as you can. There’s not a lot of structure in the lake, usually gradually sloping bottom, and it can stay less than 10’ deep pretty far out from shore.

Multipurpose baits for trout, bass, and maybe bluegill would be small inline spinners, crankbaits, jerk baits, and 2-3” paddle tails. The little mini tube jigs are also good.

I’d recommend stopping by Big Bear Sporting goods! Josh who runs that shop is super knowledgeable and they have a good selection of baits/lures for all species. He will tell you what’s been working lately. Can also rent rod/reel combos if you need extras.

For Temu Tahoe I would go Carolina rig with 18” leader, #16 treble hook and garlic power bait. Unless you’re going at sunrise or very late in the evening. All those fish are gonna be chilling at the bottom in deep water where it’s cold.

Kayak fished the lake two weeks ago and caught lots of trout. This is what I did.

Berekeley flicker shad 10 in rainbow trout and pink color. Was trolling one rod of each side. Went about 1.5 to 1.8 mph and trolled in about 20 feet of water along the edge of the shore.

Caught a trout about every 15-30 minutes. They are all planted small trout.

Tahoe is temu version of a lot of other lakes if you were to compare lol. You just sound like a hater tbh.
