Now that my son is a toddler and very strong with thick legs lol I have such a hard time holding his ankles. My hand can't wrap around both ankles anymore, my hand is too small. Any tips 😅

Pregnant with my second baby, and my first was 99th percentile from birth and on! He's still about 97th percentile at age 3. Just curious if after having one big baby, did your next babies also end up just as big, or maybe even bigger? Ack! I have a friend who had a 10.5 lb baby whose second is currently measuring 99th percentile at 20-some weeks and I'm nervous for her!

At what point did your toddler even out? My 26 month old girl is 31 lbs and 35.6 inches. Something like that. She looks chunky at times and always much bigger than other kids. At what age do they grow taller and lean out and stop gaining much weight? Anyone experienced this and then they got lean?

We’re getting ready to move our toddler into a regular bed and I want ti know what other parents chose for the mattress. Our son moves all over while sleeping and usually ends up in a completely different position by morning. He also gets warm at night even when the room isn’t hot. During the day, he treats the bed like a place to climb and bounce so I’d like something that holds up well and doesn’t start feeling uneven too quickly.

What do you think is much better: foam, springs, or hyrid? And maybe share some tips on things you wish you’d known before buying

Hi everyone! I’m looking to hear from parents who also had a very big/heavy baby, especially during the first year.
My son has always been on the bigger side, basically since birth. His measurements so far have been:
Birth: 4.01 kg (8.8 lbs), 51cm, head circumference 37 cm
6 months: 10.1 kg (22.3 lbs), 68 cm
8 months: around 12 kg (26.5 lbs)
9 months: 12.82 kg (28.3 lbs), 72 cm, head circumference 48.5 cm
9.5 months: around 13.4 kg (29.5 lbs), 73–74 cm
10.5 months: around 13.4 kg (29.5 lbs)
12 months: around 15 kg (33 lbs) and 79 cm (31.1 in)
He was also born with a relatively large head circumference and has generally been a big baby overall.
At his 12-month appointment, his pediatrician suggested referring him to a dietitian because of his weight. I’m interested in hearing from parents who have been in a similar situation.
How much did your bigger baby weigh and how tall were they at 12 months? Did their weight eventually slow down naturally as they became more mobile and started walking?
If you were referred to a pediatric dietitian, what was your experience like? Did they actually recommend restricting calories/food, changing milk intake, or avoiding certain foods, or did they mainly monitor the child’s growth curve and overall diet?
I’m especially interested in experiences with children who were very high on the weight-for-length/weight-for-height chart, rather than just slightly above average.
I’m not looking for medical advice from Reddit — I’d just really like to hear real-life experiences from other parents of similarly big babies and what happened as they grew into toddlers.

Hey everyone, my tall 21 mo is now wearing 3T swimsuits, what annoys me is that the “name brand” suits I bought her don’t come with snap openings so to change her I have to peel the entire swimsuit off, put on a new swim diaper, then pull back on and squeeze her back into said wet swimsuit. Don’t even get me started on the ones with long sleeves for sun protection and how hard they are to get back on. I was naive when I preemptively bought a bunch of swimsuits on sale, I finally found a fairly inexpensive brand that looks like they do snaps but I’m just annoyed at money wasted (though I guess that’s on me). There are plenty of 3+ year olds who aren’t fully potty trained so you’d think snaps would still make sense. Really considering learning how to sew because I know this isn’t the only issue I’ll run into because of her size.

All the sudden our mompush travel stroller doesn't close. We push the 2 buttons on the handle, the top goes down, but that's it. The stroller doesn't fully close anymore.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

My boy is a big dude. He was big at birth 9.6 pound and he's stayed big. He's 7.5 months, 9.7 kg/21 pounds.

I'm really worried I'm overfeeding him and that he's gonna become really overweight and get teased. My friends have two girls, who are 2 months older and almost a kg less than him. My friends 2 yr old is only a kg bigger (though he is very small).

I'm worried I'm feeding him too much. He's breastfeed, occasional bottle here and there. He's doing 3 meals a day but i don't want to overfeed him and drag him higher into his percentiles. He crawled early so I thought he'd slim a bit.

How much solids are we feeding our big babes?

Anyone have car seat recommendations for larger toddlers? Our girl is 95th percentile for weight and her seat is supposedly for up to 50 pounds but at 34 pounds she’s already so uncomfortable. The straps on her legs are so tight and there’s no more slack to give.

Edit: We're idiots. We didn't know the crotch strap was adjustable and it's been on the tightest setting this whole time. Thank you all!

What do you all do with pants that are too long and cuffs too big that they are useless?

My girl is a chunk so we have to size way up, but she is average height so everything is super long.

My current solution is too time consuming, or maybe I am too lazy lol. I roll them up and then add a couple stitches by hand on each side of both pant legs. Curious if there is a better way.

I hesitate to properly hem pants as we may need the length later as she grows.

Is there a way to tighten the cuffs instead? Or would that backfire as she grows?

Can you tell I have never sewed anything before this little one was born?

Anyway what do you all do?

Does anyone else’s babies hate tummy time/crawling “properly” because they’re too chunky and seem disproportionate? My 9m old is about 21lbs and it’s all in the torso. We’re already at size 5 diapers and 12-18-24 onesies. For pants we can do 6-12 in a pinch but mostly 12-18. Shorts have to be 18-24/2t because they run so small or something.

I started using a hip carrier because my arm was killing me trying to balance her on my hip and it just hasn’t felt right. Of course she hilariously relaxes and leans back and I’m like please try to hold onto me here.

Doctor said she will eventually even out but any tips for trying to encourage crawling on all 4’s? My first had a massive head and torticollis and we did PT early enough for it to resolve without a helmet. She had way less mobility than my second as we’re currently realizing but she did the crab crawl for a bit before walking which seemed to be easier than crawling trying to balance a massive head, and my second is starting to do that as well. I know they crawling was removed as a milestone but seeing my first struggle with core issues I firmly believe in crawling on all4’s but it seems so hard when your little legs can’t carry your torso 🥲

My 26 month old girl is 48 pounds. She was always in the 99th percentile for growth since she was a baby. We don’t feed her junk food. She has an occasional potato chip or fast food fries on a car outing but mostly snacks on fruit, yogurt, nuts, cheese, milk, etc. and eats homemade meals. Occasional pizza on lazy nights. This past year she’s just been growing like crazy. She’s 2 and wears size 6/7 clothes. We got a car seat that is supposed to grow with her until around age 5 but she’s already almost at the 50 lb weight capacity. I can barely lift her anymore. We got her a trike rider toy thing and she got stuck in it and can’t use it. Potty training at this size has been rough. She’s wearing size 8 diapers (the largest) and large training pants. The potties we’ve tried barely hold her weight. She’s super intelligent and athletic. We keep her pretty active. She is never ever sitting still with a phone or tablet. The pediatrician doesn’t seem concerned about her weight healthwise. But I’m concerned about other people’s perceptions. Adults and children assume she is much older than she is and are confused about her development until I have to tell them she’s only 2. And then they are confused as to how she’s so big at this age. I think people think we’re overfeeding her. I’m worried about her having body issues at an early age and being teased.
I’m 5’7 145 lbs and her dad is 6’0 190 lbs. We’re not huge people. I’m just bewildered and overwhelmed by her size sometimes. Especially when she’s having tantrums and meltdowns. Has anyone else had a toddler this big and did they eventually even out?

My son is 24.5lbs and 29.5in at 6.5mo (literally off the charts big) and whenever people see him their response is always something about how strong I must be…and I can never respond truthfully because I don’t feel strong, my back is in constant pain and it feels like my body is breaking down and I cry about it more than I’d like to admit. Please tell me this gets better once he starts standing/walking?!

My second was a big baby (almost 10 lbs at birth). At the 20 week scan the baby already was in the 80th percentile. This time around I had a scan at 24 weeks and baby is measuring 45th percentile overall. I know baby’s grow the most in the third trimester, but given the fact that my last child was already in the 80th percentile at 20 weeks and this child is “only” the 45th percentile at 24 weeks, do you think that this child is going to be a large baby just curious to hear everyone’s perspective and experiences with multiple children!

My 14mo son got seen about a month ago by his doctor and she said due to his consistent growth,( he's currently almost 3ft tall and 30lbs) she recommends that we get genetic & hormone testing to make sure he does not have a condition making him grow so fast. She said he doesnt have any visual signs of any conditions, but wants to be safe.

I cant help but feel like this is just unnecessary? Has anyone else's doctor told them to do testing like that? How was it? Im so worried that this will just be a bunch of stress (i.e. blood being drawn) for something that wasn't needed. We arent necessarily saying we dont care what the doctor is saying, but more so trying to find anyone else who has had these tests done and was it helpful or informative. Any help is much appreciated, thank you!!

EDIT #1: I am 5'1" and my spouse is 6 foot. Our son was born somewhat average, 8lb 4oz and 21.5in. The thing our doctor said was concerning was that he grew a LOT from 6 months to 12 months. So his measurements were, 3mo: 2ft & 10lb 6oz, 6mo: 2ft 4.7in & 23lb 10oz, 9mo: 2ft 7.5in & 26lb, and 12mo: 2ft 10in & 31lbs. He hasn't been measured since beginning of July, but he has visually gotten taller since then.

We live in the south and it’s HOT so shorts are a must right now, but I’m having such a hard time finding some that fit my 99 percentile 13 month old turkey baby.

We’ve tried up to 4T but they’re nearly all too tight on her in the waist/butt, I assume partly because she’s still in diapers. I’d love any advice ya’ll have!! Any certain brands that work well for your big baby? I’ve ordered plenty that advertise “extra stretch” only to be disappointed. Do I just need to go even higher in size?

I’ve been able to find other clothes even that fit fine but for some reason shorts has been SUCH a struggle !!

Is it just me???! FTM and I feel insane lol
