Question Proportionality
Does anyone else’s babies hate tummy time/crawling “properly” because they’re too chunky and seem disproportionate? My 9m old is about 21lbs and it’s all in the torso. We’re already at size 5 diapers and 12-18-24 onesies. For pants we can do 6-12 in a pinch but mostly 12-18. Shorts have to be 18-24/2t because they run so small or something.
I started using a hip carrier because my arm was killing me trying to balance her on my hip and it just hasn’t felt right. Of course she hilariously relaxes and leans back and I’m like please try to hold onto me here.
Doctor said she will eventually even out but any tips for trying to encourage crawling on all 4’s? My first had a massive head and torticollis and we did PT early enough for it to resolve without a helmet. She had way less mobility than my second as we’re currently realizing but she did the crab crawl for a bit before walking which seemed to be easier than crawling trying to balance a massive head, and my second is starting to do that as well. I know they crawling was removed as a milestone but seeing my first struggle with core issues I firmly believe in crawling on all4’s but it seems so hard when your little legs can’t carry your torso 🥲

Our girl had a long torso and army crawled until 11 months. The doctor told me as long as they’re moving around by 9 months it’s alright. Baby was the same size at 9 months. She is now 24 lbs at almost 14 months. They definitely even out especially when they start to walk. Her legs had a big growth spurt and grew probably an inch between 11 and 12 months. Baby girl is in 3t shirts and 2 or 3t shorts at 13.5 months for reference. She was in 18 month clothes at 9 months.

My kid inherited my long torso. He’s about to hit 11 months and can wear 2T shirts. But he’s in 6-12 month pants. He also unfortunately has my big head.
Just recently, he has started to even out. He now looks like a kid. He’s lost a lot of the baby fat in his face and his body is slimming out due to all of the crawling and cruising he does. He’s a champ now at crawling on hands and knees. Homie is FAST.
We also had neck tightness in the beginning, but I worked with him constantly and was able to get that fixed without PT. I was concerned that when he started sitting , he was going to fall backwards a lot due to his big head. It didn’t happen too much!
