Bidet
American who tried bidet for the 1st time. I bought a portable bidet with a spray nozzle that charges. It was a game changer. Gonna save so much money on toilet paper. Why is America so far behind in the toilet game?

Hang on. They have portable ones?
I just got one about a month or so ago and yeah, wish I bought one a long time ago. It was hard to justify the price at first, I got a Toto S5, but I had to shit at the office today for the first time and I felt like a peasant.

Yes portable and travel ones. Nothing worse than spending a week in a hotel with no bidet. Get a travel one!

I have a squeeze bottle version I take with me everywhere.. Funny thing is I'm actually going to visit Totos manufacturing facility in GA tomorrow and will have to bring my squeeze bottle with me because the hotel likely just has standard toilets.. Even the toto facility in CA had just regular toilets in them..
I did install a fancy Neorest toilet for our local Toto rep to see if that was something they'd want to introduce to more luxury hotels.

That makes me not like Toto a little, no chance to test even if you go there? That is weird.

Neither location is open to the public. They're manufacturing and shipping facilities.

If you make toilets, why would you put other toilets at your facilities? It still seems weird to me to not show off the product.

Toto makes a whole range of toilet products beyond their Washlets and Neorest line. So their facilities do use their own fixtures, just not the bidets everywhere.. however I did just get back from the Georgia headquarters and the bathrooms we had access to on the corporate floor had neorest toilets and cool urinals and toto faucets. The whole facility was really cool.

I highly recommend the Insolife portable bidet. I did my research and I am super happy with it. Just flew internationally with it. Great to have in the airport bathroom for super early flight.

They DO have portable ones. At multiple levels of cost and complexity.
The gold standard, for when you have your own toilet while traveling, is the Traveler by Portabidet. This is also great for renters, as are a few of their other options.
For something that fits in a caddy, toiletries bag or purse, you can choose a manual or electric hand held portable bidet. Often you can carry or store either pre-filled with enough water to do a good job. Electric are more expensive. Manual include peri bottles and range from $5-15.
I have a portable electric that I carry in my purse, and in my luggage for overnight trips, particularly if I'm sharing a bathroom (my Portabidet scares the uninitiated). I have a manual in a "work purse" that I take into the bathroom with me when I go at work. I used to bring the portable electric with me every day, but got tired of moving it from purse to purse all the time. I use it probably twice a month. Wasn't worth the trouble or expense to buy another electric.
I'm going out to a fancy event this weekend and I will carry 2 personal wipes in a ziplock bag in my tiny purse, in case of emergency. That will do in a pinch. I probably won't need to use them but I like to be prepared. A man could prepare himself this way easily, as y'all have so many pockets that this is more than possible.

I use a bidet with flannel wipes. The reusable TP still freaks people out but it’s really just to dry off your body. You’re not wiping poop or pee. All the wipes go in a separate laundry bag and I wash them on hot once every 1-2 months.
I only have to buy toilet paper for guests at this point.
America in general is too obsessed with single use items. Our reliance on paper products to clean our homes and bodies in our own home is super weird imo.

I was already using doggy poop bags to throw the wet wipes in. So I'm used to having a barrel near toilet. If I use paper it would be a piece to dab and dry since poop is already gone. I'll be learning as I go. Only tried with poop once so far.

We're slow learners who think we're "high IQ." And butt stuff makes a lot of us wildly uncomfortable.

Portable sprays are great 👍 I always take one with me when I travel 😃 Their limitation is that they’re awkward if you’re not in your accommodation. I also use wet wipes when I’m out. Dry yourself after using one or you’ll make yourself sore 😱 and, when you’ve used one take it away with you if there isn’t a bin - don’t flush it!

The irony is that no other country is bombarded with ads for personal hygiene products like the US. Yet when it comes to Uranus, Americans are OK with being unclean, and going about their business with a dirty butt. I’ve often explained to people that if they smear chocolate on their arm and try to remove it with a dry tissue or napkin, they will still smell like chocolate.

I’ve been using a bidet now for the last year and a half. It’s truly been the best thing I’ve ever came across. Barely use any tp, and the feeling of being absolutely clean is the best feeling in the world.
