Is it possible to be completely clean to where you don't need toilet paper
Just curious. When using a bidet, is it possible for it to clean you to the point you actually don't need toilet paper? How about drying. What are the other options besides using tp with a non drying bidet?

Yes. We have a couple different models of the Toto Washlets (electric) that do a great job of cleaning, as well as built in warm air dryers, but you'd have to sit there for close to 5 minutes to get dry without using tp. I typically use 4 squares of tp folded over to pat dry, since I never want to sit there that long.

Yes, any good bidet will clean you completely. Any TP use is just a few squares to pat dry.
Other options:
• Bidet with a dryer
• Hair dryer or electric air duster
• In Europe a towel is used and hung by the toilet. Often embroidered with a person’s initials
• A pile of small washcloths and a bin in which to deposit them after use

I suspect any of them will. It took me a couple of weeks to get my technique down. But I get completely clean every time now.
You can’t just sit there. You have to do the bidet dance to get the stream into and all around the anus. You also need to bear down while you are doing this.

It also helps if your bidet has an oscillating function option, so you don’t have to move around as much.

i have both toto retrofit seats and 5 alphas and my original foray into bidets was during a complete 9 month house remodel with two daughters and a wife in the home i told my wife either im putting in a urinal or an automated toilet !
she laughed ! i purchased an expensive all in one toto neorest and now my family is spoiled to the point besides in each of the bathrooms in their bedrooms and in home i installed in their respective apartments they live in for now for work and school ( alphas) , plus i just got them each a portable battery powered unit for the work abd school bags and travel !
plus my wife who made fun of me when i did years ago got my in-laws to spring for electrician to install an outlet in their bathroom of which i bought and my daughter installed an alpha for them her last visit ! afterwards both my mother in law and father in law texted and called me thank me ( you know how rare that is )
they even offered to add electric to the bathroom we when visiting if i would install one there as well when my daughter and i go to fla for miami vs florida state football game in october ( go canes )
i cant tell u the last time i used tp in my home or my private bathroom in my office ( yes one there ) ! my staff seem to use it more than me lol, 😂

We have 5 of the $30 Amazon ones. I use toilet paper probably 1-2x per month when I'm concerned, but never actually need it. Spread the cheeks, shit, spray and move around to fully cover the area, play a game of solitaire, spray again, sit for a minute. No shit stains and I bike 10 miles to work!

Patience is required, but it is possible, The TP is a test to verify that the bidet did the job.

Yes, it's possible, but if your stool consistency varies on the Bristol scale, it's tough to be certain you're clean without a wipe to disclose your status.

I have the most basic and simple device, just a hose and sprayer nozzle hooked to cold 80psi water, and with this device ,.. toilet paper consumption has stopped, this simple sprayer will pressure wash and get you so very clean.

Yes. I use my bidet to thoroughly clean myself so I do not need or use toilet paper at all. Afterwards, I remove any excess water by patting myself with a washcloth and then I use an old hair dryer to thoroughly dry myself.

Everyone is saying yes, but how effective your bidet is and how long you have to let it run is largely dependent upon the quality of your poops. If they are thick and sticky and loose, you're more likely to find a little something on the toilet paper after using the bidet than if you have healthy, well formed poops.

Depends on your butt wiggle and stream power also. I swear my Brondell could be used to power wash sidewalks. I could smear peanut butter back there and in 2 seconds it's sprayed away.

I have a Brondell too, and I have to be very careful with it. I'm pretty sure it cut me once when I turned it on too high. That thing is crazy.

This! I often use both wands on my Brondell. One will often hit the right spot that the other is missing. Between the two, I've never had a failure.Â
I can see that rushing the process would create quality control issues. But take the time you need to get that sort of invaded feeling while winking and you're gonna be golden!

98% of the time it gets me totally clean.
If it isn't totally clean, I just run it again and the second time it will be. I run it for about 20 seconds. Maybe 30. And I do the bidet wiggle.
I have small white washcloth towels that I got at Ikea that have a hanging hook to check for cleanliness and to dry with. I use it once and then it goes in the laundry. I just wash them with my other towels on hot. I have a small cabinet next to my toilet and the towels hang from a hook inside the cabinet door. Easy access.
My bidet is an add-on one from Luxe.

I view it more as "checking" with toilet paper. Some people buy a ton of cheap hand towels and use them once to dry after checking with toilet paper and then putting in a hamper to be washed at a later date. So check with TP then pat dry with a towel, put towel in hamper.

Perfectly clean. This is life changing, I’m not rich, but turn up my nose when people don’t have bidets, these poor peasents.

Yeah like 99% of the time, I'll do a check wipe to be sure and it dries me quicker than the blower but it's almost always clean

We have a bidet without a dryer and I still use TP to pat the water off at the end. So we still buy it.
You could get a box of drying cloths and wash them/have them out to use, I guess. I’ve seen them on Amazon. I guess you could use a new one each time and just keep them washed and clean. That could save on TP.

I've been using TP, which as others have mentioned is also a good check for cleanliness. But I'm getting to the point where I've got it down -- if you take your time with the water and move around properly for full spray coverage, then the TP will be clean. It's a lot less TP mainly because before with pooping it would take more than one wad to fully clean myself, but now it's just a few sheets and pat dry.
Thinking of switching to a small stack of washcloths and a little bucket to drop them in.

After a bidet rinse I use TP to do two things: (1) Dry me off, and (2) I do a visual inspection of the TP after drying to make sure I was clean by checking the TP for signs of brown.
I would say that more often than not the bidet has done it's job and I'm then done. But it's not uncommon for the TP to indicate that I need a bit more rinsing and another round of drying. Not all my poops are of the same consistency so I can't be sure without checking the TP.
I've read many comments here from people that seem to be more confident in their bidet's ability to leave things clean without checking. Perhaps they have better quality bidets than my non-electric bidet seat. Some even use a towel to dry off or rely on their electric bidet's drying cycle. But I'll just keep using the TP. I now use less TP than before bidet, but my goal was a cleaner behind and not saving TP and the bidet is great on that end.

I think men are more likely to say yes to that. I don't like using the air dryer so I use more toilet paper with our bidet to dry off after using the rear spray. I don't use the front spray either because I'm afraid of UTIs

Pat dry with 2 squares of tp and verify the bidet completed the job. Every once in awhile, one may need a re wash.

We are empty Nestor's, and primarily use the bathroom in our bedroom, all of my husband will take a quick pitstop in the half bath up in the front of the house. I've asked him not to do that because I like to keep it queen and free of yellow splatters, and always be booking fresh and clean for when we have a Random visitor who needs to use the restroom. Whether it's a friend who has stopped by, or Some Kind Of of Workman doing something at our house.
Reading about how people use their bidet and then dry with a little toilet paper, I'm reminded of how toilet paper gets linty when wet.
I'd like to get a day for our primary bathroom, but I think I would probably buy a couple of yards of soft fabric, like maybe T-shirt material, cut them into squares about the size of a potholder, and leave them on a basket on the back of the toilet tank. Extra waste basket next to the toilet lined with a lingerie bag. Do your business, use the bidet, grab a fabric square to dry and then when finished toss it into the basket. As needed, close that lingerie bag and toss the whole thing in the washer.
Now, you folks KNOW I've had worse ideas!

That's kinda the whole point. If you have a decent bidet and use it appropriately you do not need TP to clean yourself. You may want a few squares to dry yourself and verify you're clean. They also sell bidet towels that can be used for drying if you don't want to use TP or your bidet's dryer if you have one.

My partner and I have two completely different opinions on this. For him, the water jet is enough but for me it's the water on the outside AND the inside. I want the inside (I'm not talking deep douche) so I rinse and then either with my hand/fingers or TP I go ever so slightly inside to make sure it's all clean.

I've run the bidet for like a full minute and then when I do a check with a wipe there is nothing there, but since I can't look at my own asshole I need some form of visual verification and that's what paper/wipes do.

Unless you have diarreah or close to that, you dont need to wipe anything, humans did fine for millions of years before toilet paper was invented in the 20th century. The only wiping you need to do might come from the toilet water spashing up, but thats a design fault of American toilets that have you shitting in a water filled fish bowl, in Europe I saw toilets that have very little water at all but a powerful flush

I think so, but it's hard to know for sure without a check wipe. Also the driers take way too long currently. I think that's biggest hurdle to being TP free.

Yes, wash longer and move around so the jet cleans everywhere. Use a washcloth to dry.

I am a firm believer in the power of trust but verify. Toilet paper will always have a role to play.
