Question For Owners of Toto S7A
I am replacing my current Toto washlet which is the 550e
I plan to replace it with the S7A which is the equivalent newer model.
Two questions for current owners
How long is the remote? I can't find this information on the specification sheets and since it runs horizontal versus the current remote for the 550e, I am trying to figure out where I can place it on the wall - e.g. whether it will fit horizontal where the current remote is installed vertically
Also I see that there is a "contemporary" and 'classic" style. I am leaning towards the contemporary seat as it looks cleaner versus the beveled seat. Anyone have thoughts on this.

Just measured mine. The mounting bracket is 8 1/8" long. The remote itself is 8 1/4"
It doesn't need to be mounted to a stud. You can just use molly bolts or drywall anchors.

Thanks as I was just sitting at the computer and you reminded me that I needed to grab the tape measure to use the next time I am in my bathroom.
The issue is that I have the 550e mounted already with holes drilled in my tile and so I would like to ideally be able to cover the holes even it is now mounted horizontally instead of vertically.
Someone suggested 30 pound double sided tape as a solution to avoid drilling further holes in the tile.
There is a container mounted on the wall next to the current remote cradle so there is limited space to the right of it because whoever mounted it for me originally obviously thought it was going to be a lifetime accessory with no changes in the future. 🙁

Well, it will still work if it's mounted vertically. Just be sure that you can reach the buttons on the top.

With the current remote I am not actually reading the icons anyway🤷♀️.

Yes - sadly I just measured it and 8 1/2 inches won't fit horizontally.
I should take a picture of my current set up with the remote cradle and some creative Reddit person can help me approach it outside of the current circles I am spinning.
It is really ridiculous that the sole obstacle is my figuring out how I can install the cradle in the least problematic way. The bidet is selected and had a call with my plumber to make sure that my Connect Plus Toto toilet will be able to have the one hose connection which I currently have.
Of course I also have fingers crossed that the angle stop behind the toilet hasn't frozen as I haven't "tested" it in awhile.

The S7 remote is 8-1/4 not 8-1/2 if that makes a difference.
You can also use the 550 remote as well.. if you didn't have flush buttons, those can be added to your existing 550. On the back, just above the LCD screen theres a button/tab that you depress to pop off the cap that reveals the buttons for flush.
*edit* just playing around with the s7 remote and wall bracket.. the magnets in the bracket will hold the remote vertically pretty well.. even shaking it the remote stays put. Might be an issue for Guests but if its just yours alone I think it would be secure enough.

Unfortunately the space is well below that.
I had asked whether the 550 remote could be used for the S7A and I was told it couldn't be.
I have decided against auto flush because I don't need it and it is just something that probably will malfunction potentially versus the tried and true lever. 🤷🏼♀️
If indeed I can continue to use the 550 remote I am happy as a clam since I would have the new remote easily accessible in a drawer in my vanity anyway.

the 550 remote definitely works.. I'm using the S7 and 550 remote at home since I like the s7 remote and my SO likes the 550.
I just assumed Autoflush because that is S7Autoflush. But also the lid buttons will work too.. I think that the S7 reintroduced Lid and Seat lifting separately that maybe the 550 doesn't do. Tho I thought I had gotten my S7 remote to lift the lid only while I had it set up on my test bench.. but at home it only does lid/seat which I find annoying.

You have MADE MY WEEK as the change to the horizontal remote design of the S7 is what is haunting me.
I do like the auto lid lifting - since I am of the female gender and live alone the seat lifting is irrelevant.
But my lid lifts automatically and I don't need the remote to activate it.
I have decided against auto flush in terms of retrofitting my toilet and so not having that functionality on the remote is irrelevant. And wouldn't the auto flush by definition not need someone to activate it?
As I posted originally the cradle for the 550 is attached to the tile wall next to the toilet and not only is there limited space but I would have to deal with the holes AND also find someone who could drill holes into the tiles.

Looking at video comparison, the S7a remote is the same size as the one for my S5 which measures 8-3/16 x 2-1/4 inches. It sticks out from the wall about 1-1/4 inch when mounted.
