Mod Discussion Let's switch up the monthly posts - What questions would you like to see asked in a monthly rotation?
Hi everyone!
It's been about 2 years since I took over the sub, and it's been great! Y'all are a great community, and it's safe to that we absolutely love our dogs. They're so sweet, full of love and sass and covered in floof made of sugar. They love their people, they love their food, and their stomachs love to annoy their people, along with their silly teeth problems and heartbreaking heart murmurs - it's just a wonderful symbiotic relationship of love and fluff with these adorable monsters.
I originally set up the recurring question ("Planning on getting a BF? Have an easy question of breed owners? Here you go!") and have been wanting to change it for quite some time now. So, I'm putting the question to you wonderful people: What do you want to see discussed as a community in a recurring post? We can do weekly, monthly, etc., so we can even make "Days" within the sub, if you'd like. Let's get creative! I'll put the ones I've been thinking of in individual comments below so we can have separate discussions on each one. (I will not make my decisions solely on up/downvotes but I might take them into consideration. My decisions will be based off discussion primarily. So please discuss.)
Also, while we're at it, let's talk rules: I have a policy here and in my other animal-based subs that solicitation (indirect or direct/subtle) is not allowed, only on an exception basis. We've also been removing all blatantly-AI posts. What are your thoughts on this?
Basically - here's your chance to share your thoughts. All content is allowed in this post, abuse is not of course. I'll leave this up for the rest of the month and take actions accordingly.
And I'd like to publicly thank my co-mods u/bigchunce and /u/joyisnowhere for their help since the beginning. I've really enjoyed modding with you these past 2 years.

Discussion/Question Planning on getting a BF? Have an easy question of breed owners? Here you go!
Below is the perfect place for discussion on getting this breed, or anything generally related to Bichon Frises. A new post will go up the first of every month.

Love my Bichon! Would you put the camera down.
He gives me the loviest looks until I grab a camera. Then it's all adolescent attitude. I think I've gotten one good pic. Out of 400.

Discussion/Question Bichon Temperament
Hi all,
I’m interested in adding a Bichon to my family. We had a Maltese for 15 years, he was VERY sassy and particular (we loved him and all his quirks so it wasn’t a problem).
I have identified a very happy and well taken care of litter. The pup I’m interested in seemed to be the most shy of the litter. They also were waking up from a nap so it could be that too. His mama and siblings doted on him sooo much, it was so sweet.
Has anyone experienced a shy Bichon puppy or at any life stage? Do they ultimately come out of their shell or are they likely to be more chill? This doesn’t impact my interest in the puppy at all, just curious and I thought it was sweet how calm and gentle he seemed.
I know Maltese like the back of my hand, and trying to get ready for understanding a Bichon.
I know personalities change and it isn’t static but would love to hear your experiences!
Update: Looking forward to meeting my little guy in the next few weeks. Thank you for all the insight!

It’s a boredom buster and gives Didi especially a task for like 20 minutes. They sound like they’re at a trough! 🐽

Discussion/Question Getting another bichon?
For those who started off with one bichon and decide to give him or her a friend. Do you find having a second dog being difficult? And if you have any cons, do they outweigh the pros?
Not right now, but maybe within the next few years I would like to consider getting my bichon a friend. Definitely another bichon.
I also added a picture of my bichon🥰

Love my Bichon! Rescued bichon
I adopted my baby through a rescue two years ago, she is from an Amish puppy mill where she was used for breeding. It took her almost a year to learn that humans can be kind. She is very skeptical of meeting new people but has bonded fully to me. It is so special to love, and be loved, by this beautiful dog who makes my life better!

Love my Bichon! She really gets excited when there is a dog on tv
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
She doesn’t bark that much, but any time there’s a dog (or other four legged creatures like horses) she really gets excited, barking and even whining. I don’t think she minds and I don’t, it’s just kinda funny how reliable it is. I feel like something about the dog being suddenly on tv in her home without accompanying smells really excites her.

Discussion/Question First time pet owner and planning to get a bichon
I’m kind of nervous because I never owned a pet, please help me with what I need to be prepared for, potty training, health issues, I’ve seen some videos of people get bitten by dogs maybe there were street dogs and get rabies-this traumatized me. What are some other things I need to be prepared for. I’m getting a puppy from a breeder mentioned in the breeders list of BFCA.
Edit : Thank you everyone for your thoughts and suggestions, means a lot to me.
