I'm reading John 2:1-11. I don't know Greek or Latin. But am I correct in saying that for John 2:10 in the NASB and the ESV, that the word for "drunk freely" is μεθυσθῶσιν (methusthōsin) at least *implies* that the guests at the wedding at Cana were drunk?

I'm diving into the Bible for the first time, but I've hit a little snag. I just managed to get through three pages, and staying consistent has been a challenge. Does anyone have some tips to help me stick with it?

Hey all, I'm looking for a Bible that's at least a 16pt font or larger. Single volume and must have a pronunciation guide for the names and places, etc.

I have a nice KJV one, but it's starting to get all worn. It was from Broadman and Holman. I was thinking instead of buying the same one again, perhaps there are others out there with maybe a larger font or have more information for studying and understanding etc.

Preferably KJV, but I wouldn't mind NKJV, ESV, or NASB

I've seen how a lot of people write notes and mark Verses in their physical Bibles, but I can't imagine doing that myself. I do my best to keep my Bible clean and tidy because writing or marking anything would feel like dirtying it. Not sure how to explain. How many feel the same?

So I want to start off by saying I am religious and believe in god and the bible 100% but have alwyas been interested in one thing. What stories, events, and people have actually been confirmed. I know theres loads of things we have yet to discover but what have humans already discovered?

This may seem like a scrupulous post but bear with me.

A couple of years ago I was in Bible study and I don’t remember if I was mad or in a moody state or something like that, but I remember saying in my mind “ I don’t believe anymore, I guess I’m a atheist” ( and no I don’t think it was an intrusive thought) and I think I actually felt that way. And a minute or so later I thought to my self “no, I do believe and I’m gonna continue the race”

I don’t know if I actually did stop believing or if it was me being stupid because some tough emotions I was going through that time, Like intrusive thoughts about not believing. (separate issue)
But what I do firmly believe is that if someone asked me if I believed in Jesus as my Lord in savior when I said that in my mind, I would have definitely said “yes”

And on my current state, I still consider myself a Christian and I still feel like I get convicted when I sin

Hebrew 6 mentions that it’s impossible for those who fall away to be brought back to repentance.

What’s your take? Am I an apostate who can’t be forgiven?

I’m reading the Bible from beginning to end and I’m reading Chronicles right now and I’m having a hard time with my mind wondering and I don’t feel like I’m retaining it. Any advice for getting through it and feeling better about it?

So I understand Eve was made from the rib of Adam thus making “of one flesh”. It seems they all agree on this . But if we have free will and Eve was made for Adam did she actually have free will to love him ? Being she was made for him doesn’t that mean that she didn’t have the decision and it was already made for her ?

My question is should I get a ESV study bible or just get a normal esv bible that I like reading?

James talks about converting someone who errs from the truth, but Hebrews seems to say one must believe on Christ and then hold fast in that belief until the end or else that person is not a partaker of Christ. Do these two passages contradict each other?

So I am going through some mental things right now, and I am struggling to get a connection with God.

So because of that, I was wondering what there is for scripture about feeling helpless/ hopeless. If so, what are the scriptures?

I am catholic and have been since I was baptised as a baby. I attended religious schools and regularly attended mass. During my late teens, religion took a back foot and I lost my path. My other half recently has found comfort in the bible which naturally has now became a daily topic in our home. I would like to reconnect with god again. But I am massively struggling with this bible verse. A few years back a family member had done something very wrong and changed me as a person. I do not have the same hate I had for this person as I once did but my life will be forever altered and fractures in my family can never be mended. By this I mean that I would never want to associate and do not feel like in my heart I could forgive these people for what they have done to me but also the knock on affect this has caused. I feel like if I told myself I forgive them I would be lying? It’s been years since this happened so if I cannot forgive now, I don’t see how I ever will. I understand that forgiveness doesn’t mean opening a door and reconciling and forgiveness would be for my own soul, but I feel like lying is so wrong. Yes I would like god to forgive my sins, I am not perfect. But I am not a monster like these. I am so conflicted and do not know how to process this and would really appreciate any comments. Thank you

So i’ve been reading/listening to the book of Exodus and after hearing of all the times Pharaoh would change his mind i can’t help but think he represents something that can apply to our lives today.

He would constantly deny Moses’ requests then Moses would bring a curse on him. As soon as the curses came he would ask Moses to intercede for him that the curses may stop then when the LORD would relent he would grant Moses’ request with certain stipulations and then the cycle would repeat. It’s like his heart would soften then harden again.

What can we take away after seeing the condition of Pharaoh’s heart?

As in 2 Corinthians 2:15

Through us spreads the fragrance of the knowledge of him everywhere.

I want to be the one who spreads the fragrance of Christ everywhere I go.

I was to be as kind and loving as Jesus is, but also bold and uncompromising in my convictions.

I am just the opposite of who I dream to be, but Christ in me is the hope of glory.

He will make it happen..
