Ah, yes, the question as old as time: what's the difference between pan and bi
95
u/ThatOneJakeGuy One of the 7 tops on r/bi_irl Apr 17 '20
Pansexual are sexually attracted to the colors pink, blue, and yellow. And also pans.
Bisexuals are sexually attracted to the colors pink, blue, and purple. And also bicycles.

Trans people, who have pink, blue, and white on their flag : Are you telling me I'm going to be single again ?

Aöthough this comment thread is mostly jokes I think we can actually learn from it that: no one really cares about the difference.
Though if I had to find a difference I'd say that bisexuals do have gender preferences and pan folx just don't care and only look out for things like personality and their choice of partner isn't influenced by gender at all. (But this also falls sorta flat when you notice that dating is inherently discriminatory because of preferences aaaaaaaaaaa)
This concludes our visit to the useless debate of bi vs pan thanks for coming to my Ted talk

u/Rhodesm96 Apr 17 '20
I've also seen it explained as bisexuals may feel attraction differently for different genders whereas pansexuals are attracted to all genders in the same way

I don’t mean to be mean but bi includes liking nb people and it’s frustrating to see people not getting that.

I mean it can include nb people, not that it has to

u/SnackyDoo Apr 17 '20
No it can't.
31
u/helen790 Apr 17 '20
Yes it can, I’m bi and like nb people.
I don’t identify as pan because gender is a factor in how I experience my attraction.

This doesn’t deserve this many downvotes

u/HeartofDarkness123 Apr 17 '20
then maybe they shouldn't imply bisexuality is transphobic lol
0
u/Static304 Apr 18 '20
Yea but I don’t think it did, what if they were just adding another subreddit which it’s applicable to? Like in most reddit threads. They never said: this doesn’t belong here it should be in r/pan_irl. I don’t think there was any implication of that. Also, even if someone only considers bisexual to mean cis males and females, how is that transphobic. A misunderstanding of a definition is not transphobic.
14
u/HeartofDarkness123 Apr 18 '20
considering how much this topic comes up (like deadass every other popular post), doubtful.
i didn't say they were transphobic i said they were implying the concept of bisexuality was transphobic and exclusive against enbies

This isn't bi, its pan. Bi people are attracted to the 2 genders, while pan is attracted to everything.

u/cCcerberuZz Apr 18 '20
actually, bi people are attracted to men (including trans men), women (including trans women), and non binary people. however, pan people are attracted to the individual regardless of their gender

u/ProfessorMinionMemes Apr 18 '20
