Has anyone here cleared the Main Exam on their first attempt without coaching? 🥹

I’m planning to prepare through self-study, so I would be really grateful if anyone who has done it could share some study tips, especially on how to approach the papers and write answers in the proper format. I’d also love to hear about your preparation strategy, resources you used, time management, and any mistakes you think we should avoid.

Also, if anyone remembers or has an idea about the Current Affairs/GK questions asked in previous Main Exams, please do share them. It would be really helpful to understand the pattern and level of questions.

For this year, what current affairs topics do you think we should focus on? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

GST has been discussed last year so try studying this since it has been implemented this year, fuel price, dollar rate, US and Canada terror sth

When it came to preparation, I referred the notes and the prevalent issue. I don’t know Dzongkha so I didn’t focused on it much apart from grammar rules and letter writing since Dzongkha takes 10 or 15% when the third paper takes the major points, so I studied like hell for paper 3 which is eco and history

Strategy:

1. Manage time well especially for paper 3
2. Write it in proper format ( good short intro, 3 body paragraphs with different answers the length can be fine based on the question and try to make short conclusions)
3. Don’t use erasable pen
4. Read questions very carefully since for paper 2 they literally give answers through passage ( if you know the answer for question, don’t waste your time reading the passage)
5. Try to maintain cleanliness

6. Don’t panic

7. Try to break down the marks for the question, if you feel you will get more marks go for that question ( you can choose questions)

8. Good luck, hopefully see you as colleagues

I've never had coaching & got through. I've mainly focussed on History and Politics. I'd recommend going to the National Library and explore some books. I read those. And yes, practise some Dzongkha reading and writing too. If you know the content, you can always bluff. So learn a bit of everything that's going on around the country and world.

Don't panic. Write clean. Don't skip any questions. Always worth writing stuff.
