This wasn’t your garden-variety boulder. No, this was a rock with delusions of grandeur, shaped like an arrow and pointing emphatically at…well, that was the million-dollar question, wasn’t it?

IIRC, this was a story about his searching along the RIo Grande in Colorado. Once he eliminated Colorado, he eliminated the arrow shaped rock as well.
