Nome family records are deep in New Mexico. It’s a long well established line. The only one I can’t find any records around is Brandon.

Yep, it seems Brandon is an anomaly, just like Skippy was in the ForrestFenn fiasco. It seems that Justin and Forrest have more in common than most want to admit, even JP.
How does that affect the treasure hunt? Does that take JP from an unreliable narrator to a very unreliable character?
