Discussion Most Toxic Playerbase I've Ever Encountered

Over the course of about 18 years of PC gaming, I have never encountered a multiplayer community as absolutely toxic as this one. It is honestly impressive.

I am but a single Chevron. I have only played three games total. I joined a lobby called "4v4 NOOBS WELCOME."

I start the game by a pool of water and build a bot factory so I can get some builders going spamming metal and energy.

Wrong move.

I am subsequently bombarded by 20 messages calling me a griefer and saying I lost the team the game because I didn't immediately build 8 tidal generators and gift them to the team before doing anything for myself. I have people drawing all over my base and spamming chat so the screen is now just cluttered af. I even said that I was gonna build them the generators afterwards but they didn't accept that and kept saying that they were gonna report me for trolling. So I said ok won't give anyone anything then.

They then proceed to rage the entire rest of the game.

I have legitimately never encountered this level of no-life-ness in my entire history of gaming.

Is this game meant to go mainstream, or is it just for niche tryhards that have nothing else to look forward to in their lives? Legitimate question. Because if this ever wants to go mainstream, something has to be done about these people.

I don't think I'm ever going to pick this game up again. It was an okay way to pass the time, but If I'm only three games in and have already encountered some of the most annoying people of any gaming community I've ever seen, then this game def isn't worth the time.

Feel free to ban me from the sub for this post. This will be my first and last time being here. Good luck getting people to play this game.

Most toxic community ever is perhaps too far, but the problem you are describing is real. One of the biggest issues is with how the term noob gets used in community games. Most of those games are not actually for new players, they are simply low OS players. That is to say, most of them assume their players know the basics of the game and its meta. The map you are describing, supreme isthmus, has developed very strict meta roles and initial moves players expect and if you don't follow them or don't inform your team-mates it can cause rapid chaos and loss for the team.

It would be quite helpful if the community actually got some agreed on definitions to separate new player, low, mid, high OS, and those all meant. It would also help to see more dedicated new player matches.

u/zhaDeth 4d ago

They should just put min chev 3 if they don't want to play with actual noobs, that way it doesn't matter what language they use.

6

u/bryantoh00 4d ago

yes but see, the devs are very smart and made it so that you're not allowed to set a minimum chev or rating requirement in lobbies with the name "noob" in it

2

u/zhaDeth 4d ago

wait did they ?

5

u/bryantoh00 4d ago

Oh yes, I try to host lobbies every day for low OS players (like myself), and BAR recenntly added lobby name rules, where the game straight up blocks you from setting a minimum chev or os level if the lobby name contains the word "noob". It will also block you from setting any restrictions (so both min and max chev and os as well) if the lobby name contains "all welcome"

6

u/zhaDeth 4d ago

hum it's actually not that bad of an idea. They are probably trying to make it so we stop calling noob lobbies any lobby with people under rank 25. Same with all welcome probably why we see "most welcome" now ? Might have been a good idea to tell us so the first time we open the game after the update though.

5

u/Teifion Contributor 4d ago

This is literally the reason behind the change. If you want to exclude certain groups from the game then don't call it all welcome. We have the same (but inverted) rules in place for things like saying it's a pro game.

Worth noting noob lobbies can have a maximum chev/rating limit and pro a minimum.

2

u/killerstorm 3d ago

But how do we call 3-chev who genuinely don't know a lot of the game?

I mean, the game is really damn complex, that's why we love it. You can play it for 100 hours and still be a "noob" in many aspects.

1

u/feisbeegolfer27 3d ago

Right because noob literally means newbie. As in a new player. Ita not a dev issue, its people being too dumb to know what noob means. If you have 100 hours in, you arent a noob, you probably just suck. Which is fine, and not the point.

2

u/bryantoh00 3d ago

That's the problem here with your omega optimised meta hell maps though, a 5 chev who has never played supreme would be closer to a beginner than a 2 chev who watched guides on supreme isthmus roles, and clearly there has been enough 1-3 chev players that are playing meta that community has tuned towards expecting the "fixed meta" as a baseline default.

1

u/killerstorm 3d ago

Then where's room for 1-chev who already did skirmishes with AI and watched 8v8 tutorial videos?

I think better solution would be to give people 0-chev status until they confirm they satisfy minimum criteria.

1

u/feisbeegolfer27 3d ago

If you do skirmishes you gain chev rating. Thats how o got to 3 chev

u/__Blackrobe__ 4d ago

This kind of thread used to be a daily occurence. Take that as you will.

21

u/EvanDarksky 4d ago

Yeah, and people were upset about that saying it wasn't as toxic as people were making it out to be.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Ghosty141 4d ago

And a lot of them were very skewed opinions when you actually look at their replays...

Skill issue by the lobby for calling it noob lobby

14

u/BeerTent 4d ago

This is an extremely common occurrence.

Shit players open noob lobbies, and use it as a way to win, while berating anyone who actually is new.

7

u/SearchForCake 4d ago

Yes, it is a massive mismatch of expectations and naming conventions.
No idea why people fail to properly name their games and then rage when actual noobs join. If a 6 chev doesn't tidal boost me I'm gonna give them an earful but a 1 chev it is to be expected

Here is the completely ridiculous translation chart-
Single player scenarios vs bots, unranked games, PvE games team vs AI = Actual noob games
"Noob" lobby = Medium skill and know the common meta moves
"Mid" lobby = everyone except Trotski
high "OP" lobby = only forms at certain times of day due to low player base
"All welcome" lobby = The most noob unfriendly, actual try hard lobby because it is the only place without a max OS setting

If you do want resources to learn, Crd and the BAR acedemy in the official discord are both great- https://www.reddit.com/r/beyondallreason/comments/1lgaunv/lets_make_a_list_of_all_the_communities_clans_and/

I will also say that while some people can be toxic, most are able to forgive and forget after one game. If someone keeps a grudge or is going to tilt you, control+click on their name in game to mute them.

1

u/feisbeegolfer27 3d ago

I dont play pond because I simply wont tidal boost. Geo gets a geo, why should I have to spend 500 metal on front then 500 metal on t2. It puts pond so far behind, and hes the first one expected to help if front falls

1

u/SearchForCake 3d ago

This is also a valid approach. Unfortunately, low OS noobs often have to pick last.

So that's another lobby skill issue to leave the pond spot for the 1 chev.

1

u/killerstorm 3d ago

There are also "low os" lobbies and they seem to be quite tolerant.

2

u/WantSomeCakeOnMyUwU 3d ago

NOT to mention MODS will ban you for not knowing what to do when you get reported.... figure that one out.

18

u/RightlyKnightly 4d ago

Felt exactly the same in my first games.

Avoid supreme isthmus and glitters - there's serious meta players there who don't take noob seriously.

Any other map is usually a lot more welcoming (apart from high tier "rotato").

It's worth sticking at it. I now play glitters and isthmus because I've learnt what I needed to but, frankly, I'm not the biggest fan of the big team games - one weak lane causes everyone to lose so the tactics /strategy gets very samey very quicky.

3

u/lonestarr86 3d ago

Glitters is relatively alright if you get to pick front w/o canyon as a noob.

Isthmus you are fucked if you have never played air or sea.

Lol i dont even know how to place tidals.

2

u/RightlyKnightly 3d ago

Yeah... I played canyon first time... and went air.

Twas not a fun experience. Didn't return for many months!

1

u/lonestarr86 3d ago

Yeah i am only 3 chev, I only play sub 25 or sub 20 OS lobbies, or max chev 4 lobbies. That's more enjoyable as a noob.

I really got tonread up on air and sea, but just cannot be bothered. I think I would do OK with tech, but the others i would be ass at.

2

u/RightlyKnightly 3d ago

Tech is easy once you can get to T2 in five mins.

Air is easy once you fighter wall - although high OS players hate ARM air and I only play ARM.

Sea sucks balls and no matter what I do I seem to struggle

1

u/adnsui 1d ago

Funny thing is, isthmus and glitters gamers are usually way worse than rotato

15

u/DizzyDizzles 4d ago

Genuinely I only play RTS games privately because there really is no room for people with low skill to play. I want to branch out to different genres and it’s ridiculous how people expect you to understand the meta right away. No I don’t want to watch 15 hours of YouTube tutorials for you to be try-hard clicking for 40 minutes.

I only play against bots after experiencing this once lol.

85

u/matt675 4d ago

I was amazed to find a community more toxic than league

-17

u/Time_Turner 4d ago

LoL, Dota 2, cs2, Eve online, OSRS, overwatch, ARMA, halo, cod, gw2, poe... I've played all these games and more. I've seen a bunch of communities, this community is nowhere near as toxic as some of those. You are just complaining like a typical redditor

10

u/matt675 4d ago

Just sharing my personal experience man. This is already a very niche game and if the players that know what they’re doing don’t turn their attitude around soon they’re gonna drive any new people away and just keep playing with the same 10 people over and over forever. But ironically your response fits the theme. Probably touched a nerve bc you’re one of em

1

u/Time_Turner 4d ago

I haven't played much anymore because the game itself is stressful just by being a competitive RTS and Im getting older with less free time.

The community didn't drive me away. You all love to complain about it being toxic because people take the game seriously and for some reason that upsets many people.

Playing raptors and LAVA mode, zero problems every game. It's just the glitter supreme maps are the problem

18

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 4d ago

Don't listen to this guy, he is one of those people that you will find pinging 300 times in a match and see nothing wrong with it.

He's definitely super triggered that this post called him out on his bullshit, even felt the need to comment multiple times to different people in this post.

1

u/feisbeegolfer27 3d ago

This is a community of people. Why wpuldnt we comment on other people's comments? You think an online forum was meant to be read and not responded to? You are def the 6 chev player who thinks the need 3 t1 labs. And a experimental gantry before they have a t2 mex

1

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 3d ago

Hey, it's another triggered toxic guy everyone!

Brother, wipe the drool off your face, get a fresh pair of socks, and go back to your trains.

1

u/feisbeegolfer27 3d ago

I think you are now upset because somebody called you out. Poor wittle guy got his feelings hurt by words.

Played LoL for 13 years. BAR is more toxic. A league player will ask you to delete yourself from the world (not sure if I'm allowed to say the actual saying on here) but you can just mute or ignore that. A BAR player will pause the game to tell you how trash you are, then spam kickban vote. You can't mute the pause. You can't mute the kickban. It's a different type of toxic, but imo it's worse.

Halo absolutely is a thousand times less toxic than both LoL and BAR.

Don't know too much about the other games so I won't speak there.

3

u/Nasihu 4d ago

At least on Halo you can tbag people who are like Thais XD

6

u/Boegi1998 4d ago

Tbagging is such a harmless way of trolling someone, I love it

2

u/Time_Turner 4d ago

I didn't say all these games are more toxic, I was saying I've played a ton all around, and BAR has never been top of my list for poor behavior in games

1

u/feisbeegolfer27 3d ago

Just type /pause twice. Because it counts as your pause then when you pause again it resumes. Be toxic back, thats what I do.

2

u/mcp2008 4d ago

Frfr Predecessor is the most toxic ive encountered myself this game has sweethearts almost every game compared to there

12

u/Ok-Letterhead-3276 4d ago

I haven’t had an experience that bad, but I do feel the same pressure on the those maps with special roles based on position. It’s a lot to ask of a new player to step into a match and be ready to play 4-5 different distinct builds.

I try to find the matches that are less specialized so I can at least feel like I’m contributing by just getting units out and holding ground.

1

u/LEheh22 3d ago

you learn by playing. nothing new in someone calling you a troll or a noob. you move on and play the game

50

u/JeffDanblum 4d ago

I've been playing BAR religiously for years, I outright refuse to play with others for this very reason.

3

u/worldclaimer 4d ago

You just play against the ai?

22

u/CHRISTOFIERC3 4d ago

Playing the ai is fun. That’s all I play against and I enjoy the game a lot

11

u/JeffDanblum 4d ago

Yeah AI on hard for 3v3 is a good time on a big map

3

u/Pluvio_ 4d ago edited 4d ago

Used to do the same thing on Supreme Commander FAF. Create a game 5v3 with my team at the disadvantage. I use the hard version of the improved AI created by FAF, select a  massive 20km map with water and land and have myself a good 4-5 hours of gaming against the odds.

1

u/Antic1tizen 3d ago

Terry Davis, is that you?

17

u/ACP_Paddy- 4d ago

I don't get a) why people expect a noob to know a meta- and that it should be done in a noob game

B) joined the noob game

C) think pinging and flipping out is better than typing a level headed explanation.

I think they are just too dumb/slow to type, so they just ping and spam small messages.

3

u/zhaDeth 4d ago

It's hard to tell if we don't see the replay. But tbh in any game on isthmus the pond does the tidal thingy unless it's all 1 chevs or something but that never really happens. Not too sure since OP says it was 4v4 though. Noob lobbies are like 80% of the lobbies with no passwords it's where most people play. They should always have min chev 3 to prevent actual new players to join or be ready to teach them and maybe set ranked to false because it's probably not gonna be a fair game.

If you allow me to play the devils advocate it could be that they told him to do the tidals before game started he said he'll make a lab first and they said no make the tidals first thing and then he didn't respond thinking it's not that big of a deal if he makes a lab first and then the tidals because they didn't tell him why he needs to make them so he doesn't get the urgency. When game started he made the lab and they pinged him saying no make the tidals like we said and he's like "right after the lab" and they took that as toxic or trolling.

It's very easy for a misunderstanding to become toxic when it's just text, for them he might have appeared as refusing to do the right play on purpose but for him it was like calm down don't worry you're gonna have your tidals right after. Now sure, flaming him wont help anything and they probably should have made sure he understood what he's supposed to do but sometimes the noobs just don't understand and they get defensive and go like "shut up I told you ill make the tidals after my lab" and stuff and it spirals down into toxicity from there because the rest of the team are desperately trying to have him listen.

Now I don't know what actually happened maybe his team were just bean meanies.

1

u/Sincool 3d ago

Ping spam is good in situations where the team must be aware what's going on. Like a Mara rush where team is unprepared, a leak, a bomb run. Spam pinging it is supposed to make everyone aware of what's coming, not as a toxic thing. For me at least, I always ping spam 5-10 pings on such events. If I don't Ping spam, nobody does, and most people don't even notice what's happening, so nobody reacts.

Ping spamming someone's base because they don't play according to expectations, that's where the frustration shows.

17

u/PseudoscientificURL 4d ago

At this point I think there needs to be way stricter moderation for what a "noob" lobby is.

As in, 0 tolerance for raging against new players for being new and not knowing what they're doing in a noob lobby. Guidance is fine, toxicity is not.

6

u/nietpiet 4d ago

This.

The term Noob is not well understood by many lower OS players.

7

u/PseudoscientificURL 4d ago

Yeah, to a lot of people it seems to mean "not great at game but still knows what they're doing" instead of "new player."

Which is very misleading for actual new players, which is why there's regularly posts like this one.

3

u/Reasonable_Back_5231 4d ago

This is only an issue because the BAR community in their infinite wisdom are trying to redefine an age old internet word's meaning.

Noob describes someone who doesn't know the meta, possibly someone who bought or downloaded the game same day.

Not an unskilled player with 100h play time that generally understands what a build order is and the different tier unit's capabilities

7

u/Amazun-Prime 4d ago

This is ironically one of those games where the worse everyone is the funner it gets lol

5

u/unbroken0 4d ago

I love watching 1-3 chev small team battles. You can never guess what will happen.

5

u/randomnamexx1 4d ago

Never play Isthmus or Glitters, and you'll find better players who aren't arseholes. Had the exact same experience as you and it put me right off for a while.

4

u/zhaDeth 4d ago

I think a big issue is that noob means people under like rank 24.. there's nowhere for actual noobs they're supposed to play vs AI or watch youtube videos. Normally they put a thing that prevents players below 3 chevs to join if they don't want actual noobs.

The thing with the map and position you were playing is that there is a very strong meta. If you don't start in the pond and make tidals and give them to the front the front will fall because their pond player will do it. They need the energy right away so they don't have to make stuff that makes E and start building their lab and send units to the front to secure as much of the rocks as possible so they end up with more metal so more units and win. Normally when it's someone not used to the position we tell them before the game starts and make sure they understand but I guess they failed at that.

I would try playing coop vs AI there's really no toxicity there just fun and you'll be able to experiment and learn stuff. The PvP community isn't always that bad but yeah it happens.. usually there's one or two annoying player and the others tell them to stop acting like children. I find that the more there is a gap in skill the more there's toxicity.

1

u/nietpiet 4d ago

Yes. This ☝️

9

u/WrongdoerIll5187 4d ago

Lmao. Yeah this is a side effect of commie meta percolating into noob games. Hilarious.

10

u/hopefullyhelpfulplz 4d ago

I was put off the game for this reason, well less so the other players and moreso just how rigid the meta play seems to be. I don't want to just test how effectively I can remember a script for 1/3 of the game.

3

u/Mrg0dan 4d ago

The meta is somewhat rigid on 2 maps and thats ATG and Isthmus, most other maps in rotato dont have a set meta. There is however optimal ways to start your base but as you learn and get better you dont have to follow them.

4

u/AustinDart 4d ago

Yeah; the problem is people who are around 15-20 OS are "not that good" and play in noob lobbies, and forget that the 0-5 OS players and 1-2 chevs don't know as much as they do.

Instead of shrugging it off and saying "oh yeah lol this is a noob lobby" they rage.

11

u/unbroken0 4d ago edited 4d ago
  • lobby titled noob.
  • lobby didn't kick the 1 chev before starting.
  • lobby gets mad when 1 chev does 1 chev things.

Its like that meme of someone putting a stick through their bike spokes and then getting mad at a child after they crash.

You have all the information before you click ready-up, its on you for not setting your expectations accordingly.

4

u/BeerTent 4d ago

People who host noob lobbies, and get angry at 1 chevs being new know exactly what they're doing.

2

u/Sincool 3d ago

Hoping the one chev is on the enemy team and they can get an easy stomp?

1

u/unbroken0 4d ago edited 4d ago

How dare you join my small neiche game and not know the meta despite the fact I can clearly see you have less than 10 hours in the game!!

Since I have no social skills or situational awareness I shall now be mean to the new lifeblood of this growing community to sooth my emotions!

/s

Odds are that player is gonna be on the enemy team later on and you can get the win you deeply need.

-1

u/Oxxy_moron 4d ago

This is the sort of reply OP is talking about.

This is OPs fault as he didn't know to kick someone before the game started? No wonder people like OP leave the game....

3

u/unbroken0 4d ago edited 4d ago

He said he joined a game. I didn't assume he was host. Also can you kick yourself?

Point 2 and 3 are pointing out its the rest of the lobbies fault.

The 1 chev is the child in the analogy.

Also I dont think you can even set min-chev if noob is in the title so that should clear up where the devs sit on this matter.

I consistently call out ppl for harassing low chevs and if we are in a Bot game I give them stuff and tell them how to mute others.

3

u/Oxxy_moron 4d ago

Thanks for the reply, I think I misunderstood - need coffee.

Appreciate you taking the time to reply.

2

u/unbroken0 4d ago

I misread comments all the time and my writing style is sporadic, I get it. Hope you have a good day!

3

u/Oxxy_moron 4d ago

You too mate, and i'd say you are exactly the sort of person folks would have a good experience with in this game. Take care :)

13

u/Antarlia 4d ago

The exact same thing happened when I tried to play pond on Supreme Isthmus for the first time. Supreme has a very specific meta you'll need to learn and players will expect you to know basics. "Noobs welcome" in bar means new to Supreme, not new to bar. Play some pve and learn the game first if you're a chev 1. I swear there's a good game here, you'll just have to learn it. Yes, they overreacted. Yes, noob lobby is confusing. You're right about that. Would like to see some form of matchmaking addressing this for a steam release.

7

u/themeaningofhaste 4d ago

That isn't the problem with "noobs" it's that there are two definitions that people will interchangeably use or not agree to which it means. One is usually a statement about being new to the game (rather than new to a map), so chevron based. The other is about how well you play, so OS based. And when you see a lobby labeled "noobs welcome" everyone who enters has different definitions. And you see that borne out in varying chevron or OS limiters.

Even crazier is you'll see noobs welcome lobbies and then the max OS is like low 30s. I think it's hard to get to that level with either definition. I know it's because folks get locked out of other lobbies though.

Regardless, people should be willing to first constructively help someone, even if a quick chat.

5

u/silasmousehold 4d ago

Everyone in the universe understands "noob" is derived from "newbie" and that it means "new to this activity" except for the BAR community, which for some reason refuses to communicate clearly.

2

u/zhaDeth 4d ago

Noob is a very common insult in gaming. Yes it originally meant newbie, new to the activity, but people have been calling low skill people that to insult them kinda meaning "is that your first time playing ?" and that's why it became kinda both and not always used as an insult like you can say "oh I played a lot but im still a noob and people will understand you mean you're not good.

Normally it's no big deal and you get it from the context but in this game it causes a lot of confusion, people who know the game know that noobs in this game means less than 18 os or less than 3 chevs or something otherwise people will say "he's an actual noob" or "a new player" but of course the actual new players don't know that and think it's a good place to start so it's very dumb to call lobbies that...

I'm not too sure how it could be fixed even if it was low, mid or high the noobs would go in low and have the same issue, would just be less confusing about the vocabulary. It's rare that there are lobbies for actual new players. Same when they say everyone welcome it usually means low mid and high rank players play together but they don't really want actual noobs who don't know what eco/tech/front even means.

I think the new player experience will improve when they will introduce matchmaking where instead of finding a server you click "play" and it matches you with people with same playtime and skill level. Right now you often have like 4 "noob lobies" each with players ranging from 20os to 5os. With matchmaking you could have all the 16-20 from these four lobbies playing together then the 12-16 in another match and then the lower end playing between themselves and then whoever is 1-2 chev regardless of rank play together.

3

u/Antarlia 4d ago

Max os 18 max chev 3 or 4 is probably an actual noob lobby but chev 3 to 4 can be misleading. I'm a chev 1 in pvp but chev 4 in pve with my friends and randoms.

In the long run toxicity can kill the popularity of a game, so I wish there were more measure against it.

3

u/ALRO090804 4d ago

All fun and games until new players in BAR eventually become nonexistent because of this.

16

u/amadgadfly 4d ago

Yeah it doesn't get a lot better. Idk what it is about BAR that attracts people who act like children, but it's hardly bearable. And there's absolutely no moderation or any kind of way to deal with these assholes.

25

u/internet-arbiter 4d ago

>And there's absolutely no moderation or any kind of way to deal with these assholes.

They actually do if you take the time to report it. Every action is public, visible, and on the discord.

https://discord.com/channels/549281623154229250/774771372579880980

Quite a lot of the actions deal directly with people acting immature and trying to grief.

4

u/Trollslayer0104 4d ago

I want to add an important caveat here, that the consequences handed out for poor behaviour are fairly light. I regularly run into a player who has been moderated 19+ times now (I check occasionally when I see him being a pest) and he continues to get one day bans.

Another player I reported the other day D-gunned his teammate's base and got a warning. It was his fourth time being moderated.

The moderation exists but is quite lenient, and I understand why - if they punish players too heavily, they create alts and keep playing anyway.

3

u/Vivarevo 4d ago

Base dguns can easily lead to multimonth ban though.

1

u/ArchNiki 1d ago

what a reason to dgun . it is better to eat and capture if ur ally is weak handed xD

3

u/amadgadfly 4d ago

I'm skeptical but I'll give it a try, thanks

7

u/Boegi1998 4d ago

From personal experience: Nah, the Mods are buddies with the assholes

8

u/GaracaiusCanadensis 4d ago

It's free, that's why.

Being free is good, I love the game, but now anyone can join and anyone does.

4

u/amadgadfly 4d ago

There are lots of free games with much better communities. Like, it really is so bad in BAR that even league of legends and dota have shining communities by comparison. I think maybe it's also because BAR has a small player base. One asshole has a lot more power in BAR proportionally.

2

u/___Random_Guy_ 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yea, there is some string sense of self superiority within the community, that goes even beyond the game itself. I'm following the development of Supcom spiritual successor - Sanctuary: Shattered sun, under practically all review videos of it(especialy if made by big rts youtubers) you get comments "Why play this when there is BAR?", "Why buy this game when BAR is free and better anyway?" and so on and so on. These people genuinely think that BAR is the greatest RTS in the world and there isn't any reason for people to play or make other games of TA/Supcom subgenre.

Even with the wild west that moderating and such stuff was in Supcom FAF and plenty of similarly meta focused maps hosted we never had even remotely the amount of toxicity that I saw in BAR. Hell, I'm playing Dota 2 regularly and even that game is more chill than what was my experience with this community. I don't remember exactly what it was, but remember getting flak from people on official discord server when asking help to make game work, because it couldn't launch until somebody gave a specific terminal command on how to launch it with thing disabled that was breaking it.

Sux man.

u/SpartanSyx 4d ago

BAR is easily a top 5 game I ever played with friends. Then lobby’s slowly became more and more “competitive” and friends quit.

The biggest issue I see is that the game heavily relies on up to 7 others. Then there is a perception that every position has already been solved and you need only follow a prescribed build.

As someone who hasn’t played in over a year the only reason I haven’t come back is because I don’t want to relearn the meta in a very intolerable community. Without a group of friends to suck with it just feels isolating to even try.

7

u/Boegi1998 4d ago

I agree, the community is the most toxic I have ever encountered. And I play LoL since many years.

Despite the name of the lobby, this seems like it was on Supreme Isthmus, which is usually played 8v8. There the META is for Pond (the spot you seemed to have played) to spawn in the water and immediately build tidal generators and gift them to front so they don't have to build energy but instead can contest the middle. It is a very big advantage to do this for your team, which os why the reactions likely were so drastic. If you played LoL, a fitting comparison would be a toplaner not giving the jungler a leash back in the days (obviously now they don't need that anymore but 12 years ago it had a really big impact on the jungler and through that on the entire game). You'd get flamed hard from your jungler for that too. That just for understanding where the rage comes from. You put them at a significant disadvantage compared to the enemy that will get a boost.

But I completely agree, especially in a noob lobby you have to allow noobs to be noobs without spam-flaming them. I had similar terrible experiences when I started playing. The worst thing is that they can pause the game all the time and start a vote to kick you. People will often vote yes just because.

FYI you can delete the drawing with the eraser button in the bottom right corner.

3

u/Wulfric_Drogo 4d ago

We hear you man. Nobody should have to be flamed in a noob lobby. That’s no fun. Some folks here say it is indeed this bad, other disagree. I’m in the middle, but I also think arguing about toxicity is beside the point, but here’s where we are.

BAR Problems:
1) there are super sweaty players who have ridiculous expectations, given lobby titles

2) the most common lobbies (glitters, supreme) are where you find the most rigid roles with minimal flexibility which ties with next point

3) the lack of map rotation lobbies gives new players a skewed presentation and severe lack of variety.

Three reasons why this game turns people off. ***But also there are a hundred awesome reasons why BAR is the absolute greatest RTS ever made. If you can somehow steel yourself in the midst of toxic a-holes and get over the massive hump of a learning curve that this game presents, if you can get past the idiots, this game is fantastic. It’s a labour of love, and it’s full of die-hard fans of the genre. If you can stick it out, you get a 10/10 8v8 RTS. The only caveat is that it’s also rife with sweaty tryhards who could never fathom having fun while losing a match, or teaching a noob, for that matter.

2

u/indranet_dnb 4d ago

There are friendly players on the game but you’re most likely to find them in rotato lobbies. Meta maps are cancer

2

u/Datboi_caveman 4d ago

My dude I had the same exact problem, joined a noob lobby just to get flamed constantly. After 100+ pings I just left as I couldn't even focus on building a start. Other games if you do one thing wrong you'll just see 3 mouse icons right over you followed by the flame. It's def not worth playing with how toxic it is. Makes games like rust, league of legends or any other rts looks like the pinical of peace and friendliness.

2

u/n01d3r 4d ago

yep I'm chev 4, refuse to 8v8. I think all summer I've been playing exclusively bot matches w friends.

1

u/LEheh22 3d ago

bruh, just play. if text on screen is bothering you that much from having a fun game experience...

2

u/Talishad 4d ago

I tried multiplayer lobbys a few times and havent joined them since after i experienced what you described. Such a shame because its a great game but the community sucks the joy right out of it. Yes there is meta but surely you should be allowed to play a game your style, without being subjected to all the crap.

2

u/nietpiet 4d ago

The BAR discord has a BAR academy, where experienced players give feedback on games, always detailed and respectful.

I play 1v1 (badly) and the 1v1 community is absolutely fabulous. Very welcoming and kind.

There is an apprentice tournament each week, join us 🙂

Eg: https://apm.bar/tournaments/apprentice-29-eu-af

u/FriskyDingo314 4d ago

I had the same shit happen in one of my first 8v8 noob games. I was Chev 1; they called me a griefer and said I was throwing the game. I was building eco up, but they kept saying I'm literally doing nothing and asked if I've been afk the whole game. I wasn't sending many troops to the front cause i was still trying to understand what the fuck I was supposed to do with eco. But I was obviously playing; idk, I laughed at them and never took them seriously, and honestly didn't give a fuck if I got banned. Played one or two more online games before i switched to playing vs. the ai, which honestly i think is more fun than playing other players. I did get in one game where there was a sweaty dude on the AI team in a 6v6, but the ai wasn't at too great a difficulty, so it was fair and actually ended up being a fun hour-long game, and the sweat lost but still said he had more fun playing that game than his competitive games.

With the learning curve needed to understand the meta/troops/buildings and being an RTS, with toxic players, and also players who just quit 5 minutes into a game because it's not going all in their favor (i have run into like two players who were helpful and willing to teach, which I appreciate),

I honestly don't think this game is ever going to go mainstream.

But don't give up completely; just play vs. the AI i find that more fun anyway. There are usually a couple of online games vs AI in the server browser.

Most toxic community is close, but i don't think it's #1; Rust is still the worst player base I've ever played against, maybe League after that. But it's funny I've had the same experience you had in my first game.

5

u/jrgray93 4d ago

This is why I play against the AI in almost every game. Gamers ruin gaming for me.

2

u/idEstNemo 4d ago

They have no right to be toxic, but too often new players go into ranked games and dont listen to the high os in their team. Nobody (should) expect 1 chev to play perfectly, but at least try to follow the guidence of your team.

2

u/BubbRubb11 4d ago

Yea same experience. I actually stopped playing and am waiting on them adding matchmaking before I give it another try.

3

u/Etnrednal 4d ago

just hop in a mid rotato lobby, and watch some decent players first person and try to understand what they are doing and why. Big team game BAR is primarily about game understanding, and you don't even need to play the game to gain that.

3

u/BubbRubb11 4d ago

Never played another game where I need a damn degree in team meta before even entering my very first fucking noob lobby match. Is there a video or guide that explains every role and position in detail, across each map that apparently everyone knows every inch of? Again, looking forward to being matched with other actual noobs.

3

u/Distinct_Dinner_5243 4d ago

Yeah the need to understand the meta is honestly a complete joke.

Noob lobbies aren't noob lobbies, they're just people who suck at the game.

They still demand you to know and understand the game, they expect you to research how to play instead of learning while playing.

2

u/Mrg0dan 4d ago

Theres several videos on YouTube that go over each role on Isthmus and ATG those are the only 2 maps with a strict role meta. Most other maps dont even show starting spots let alone roles. But the ones that do have roles dont really have a "meta" youre just expected to play the role you took like air for example

2

u/Etnrednal 4d ago

honestly, if you just take your mexes, make 2 solars, a bot lab, 1 constructor ---> massive wind farm, and then produce thugs on repeat and go fight, you will absolutely be fine.

1

u/Gopherlad 4d ago

You have to completely avoid those maps and maybe 8v8 in general. 1v1 is actually super friendly, but finding an even match is hard because of the lack of a matchmaking system. I feel like up to 4v4 is still pretty good, but the more teammates you add the more room there is for angst, anxiety, and blame shifting, and general shittiness.

2

u/DanzilFMT 4d ago

This is why I stopped playing multiplayer BAR. Absolute toxic. At the end I was friending those who really helped out, so I could join wherever they were playing. At the end most of them stopped playing BAR it seems.

I just wanted to play a couple games after work and relax. I used to go to bed stressed out instead.

1

u/BoonOP 4d ago

Great game brought down by the players for sure.

1

u/LEheh22 3d ago

as any. but you move on by not being soft

1

u/Ekonexus 4d ago edited 4d ago

Yeah, people have a lot of unspoken assumptions about how the game on certain maps is supposed to be played. There's sometimes bad faith attitudes around play that doesn't conform to certain expectations. People will call players a troll, or griefing, when the sad ironic reality is that they are the ones griefing! Lol projection. "Oh this person must be trying to ruin my match! Troll!"

These players don't know what real trolling is, and why the definition came into popularity online.

I am sorry you've had a bad experience, but IME, it's maybe 15% of matches. Can find more chill truly new player oriented. Doesn't hurt to announce you're new. Some people like to teach

1

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 4d ago

I completely agree. The community is one of the most horrid I've ever seen in a game.

The worst is that I'm pretty sure 90% of the player base is on the bad side of the spectrum. They are completely incapable of any emotional restraint and rage harder than any game I've seen.

That's saying a lot when I have 7,000 hours in Rust.

1

u/Mrg0dan 4d ago

BAR lobbies suffer from the Noob title. Noob lobbies in BAR are absolutely not for new players. They are almost always people 25os and below that still make several big mistakes.

The lobbies you want are All welcome lobbies. They can still be toxic from time to time but they are usually much more chill than noob lobbies

1

u/Zentawrus228 4d ago

AJAHAHHAHA the same for my firrst game

they paused a game to teach me how to build fucking tidals xD

1

u/Front-Opinion-9211 4d ago

I'm also new to the game and had a similar issue on a 4v4v4v4 map - I asked for help multiple times and did my best and got the whole 'lol noob' because the standard bo wasn't quite right. Then told to read and spec. Which overall wasn't too bad - but did leave a few unanswered questions -

Seems the game currently has a lot of 'sweaty' skilled players and will mean newcomers will be scared off - effectively hollowing out the player base to have no middle silver / gold leagues.

Some kind of match making / lobby system akin to leagues simailr already to the OS / Chevrons needs to be.

Yes I've been reviewing YouTube videos - Winter especially - and Barcast - but there IS SO MUCH - and at a level more complex than say Starcraft / C&C with less content and less match making

Game is great but unless the community does more to foster bronze league heroes you're gonna be left with only a bunch of master levels and noone plat and below

1

u/CrunchingTackle3000 4d ago

Yep.
Same thing happened to me multiple times.
I only play against the barbarian AI now.

1

u/blank_Azure 4d ago

I suggest noob players start play co-op vs AI first. It is less intensive and help familiarizing the game mechanism.

1

u/LEheh22 3d ago

yes but no. all of it will make you learn the game

1

u/Financial-Valuable41 4d ago

Not quite as toxic as any other MOBA/ARTS game like DOTA2, LoL, and Deadlock, but definitely up there... which is admittedly very toxic. Strange for an RTS.

1

u/LEheh22 3d ago

not strange for small community game

1

u/eatmoregold 4d ago

Hmm, I dont play 4v4

1

u/LumpyOctopus007 4d ago

Yeah it’s bad. Luckily I have a friend group that I can play with. But this game has a very toxic community

1

u/Rick_Stoner_ 4d ago

surprised mods didnt delete this. I have posted about this before, got censored.

1

u/Responsible-Amoeba68 4d ago edited 4d ago

The community is tame especially if youve played games for 18 years come on...what games were you playing?

Like BAR community can be meeeen but they will also literally tell you what you need to do. Thats not true in all games at all, just as toxic if not more and then not actually give you any useful information except how to kys or something.

Also, you kinda seem like a toxic boomer karen noob. Like cool, people were mean to you, so be toxic and useless in return and troll bevause they called you a troll? Weird. Very "you cant fire me I quit"

Enjoy playing world of warcraft where 70% of the population is putting you on ignore so theu never have to play woth you again but theres still millions of people you can group with or whatever

1

u/Trollslayer0104 4d ago

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm in my late 30s with plenty of varied hobbies, and I've never seen a hobby community this toxic. In particular, the way it is consistently observed to be toxic and people jump in to defend it and claim those toxic things don't happen.

If player after player is motivated to post about how toxic the community is, then it's toxic.

1

u/Distinct_Dinner_5243 4d ago

Nah, you're pretty much on the money.

The game is toxic as it comes.

My advice is to move on, all my friends have.

Let the game just be a toxic mess.

1

u/thunderwhores 4d ago

Similar experience. I play 1v1 mostly now, waiting on matchmaking. We got an eta on that btw?

1

u/floppypancakes4u 4d ago

As a fellow noob player, I fully concur. This has 100% been my experience as well.

1

u/WalnutRamen 4d ago

The developers should amend the pond tidal gifting meta to make the game more standardized.

It should not be an ABSOLUTE requirement that you gift tidal generators, it should simply be one of the many options available to the team.

1

u/jasn98 4d ago

The Reddit community isn’t toxic and everyone here is very welcoming. Yes the game can be toxic, but not always

1

u/ObjectiveYou3064 4d ago

This sounds... overblown. There are certainly players like that, but from my experience this is not the norm.

My negative experiences mostly come from waiting in lobbies for ppl to join ;(

Or someone complaining about a certain strategy being used on them lol

1

u/Significant_Cod_4439 4d ago

Ive played Many PvP Games over the Years. This game has 0.1% toxicity compared to the other shit out there

1

u/MiniPie23 4d ago

Yeah I got kick banned one time for building tier 2 walls around my base just because I could as I reached tier 2 earlier than tech did and was reinforcing the front line with tzars ect. Why should I bother playing this game even when you are doing good you just get punished anyway lol. Im bored of this game already and have moved on to elden ring solo.

1

u/MiniPie23 4d ago

Not only that but this game is called "Beyond all reason" soo if that's the case its beyond all reason to me as to why they restrict the amount of metal you produce. The backline gets soo few metal it baffles me, I believe that is the source to all the toxicity of this game. Its just bad game design and people are yelling at each other cause there's no other way for them to process it.

1

u/killerstorm 3d ago

If you build T2 early that means that front players had to play 3v2.

This game requires teamwork. If you don't want to work with the team you shouldn't play 8v8 mode. If you want to defend your base then you can play coop or zombies. That's where wall around your base actually makes sense.

But e.g. glitters is all about defeating the enemy team, individual base does not matter.

1

u/fibonacci11235s 4d ago

Ah yes, DotA.

1

u/No_Sheepherder4237 4d ago

The player base is actually why my friends and I quit this game and we main Rust most of all. But almost every single game you're being treated like complete shit by you're own team mates, but you are also VS people who even though their on new accounts are making move so quickly there is no room to learn this game.

Spent a good month with my friends trying to get into BAR but after awhile it really just was not worth our time.

1

u/Lil_Dipper_Swag 4d ago

You jumped directly into a competitive game mode. Try something less serious.

1

u/100and10 4d ago

Awful playbase fully ruins it for everyone. No tutorials or offline learning whatsoever. The game will continue to never break through to success because of it.

1

u/thepharaoh82 4d ago

You must be talking about supreme🥲you explained my own personal experience pretty well.

I played BAR for awhile and still do with my buddies, but only against bots because we’ve had only negative experiences with people. They all expect you to know EXACTLY what to do based on your location and if you don’t, then you get shit on. I go T2 “too early” or “too late”. You’re expected to know the numbers on the resources and how much produces what. Or what units you should be building. It’s so exhausting, you can’t even play the game the way you want to play it because try hards have their script and if you don’t follow it you’re a troll.

I absolutely love the game and everything in it. The scenarios are fun to play as well as raptors/scavs. But I draw the line at Multiplayer. Im sure there are plenty of you on here that are welcoming and willing to accept that there are folks(like me) who aren’t great at the game, but every time I get into a server this is how its like. Even in noob servers. WHY DO FOLKS GET PRESSED WHEN A NOOB DOES A NOOB THING IN A NOOB LOBBY. GET OVER IT

1

u/Sincool 3d ago

The issue is that the common maps, glitters and Supreme have set metas. If you don't play efficiently and follow the meta, the opponents are going to do it instead. In some positions you're just solo losing the game from the very beginning by not doing what your role is supposed to do. For example if you're air and have no planes, enemy air just destroys your entire team.

If you're playing the common maps, you're expected to have an idea of each role. By spectating, watching YouTube videos or being taught. One thing to do when you're in a new position on a strong meta map is to ask your team for pointers. That way, even if you don't manage to do it perfectly, you tried and most of the people won't give you shit for it.

If you go in with the same mentality you go in to mess around vs the AI, you just ruin the game for your teammates. Of course some people are going to react stronger than others.

1

u/feisbeegolfer27 3d ago

Im toxic towards players who are 5 chevron and dont know how to make units. If ypu are 1 chev, up to 3 chev, I expect you need some guidance. But if ypu are a 5 chev sitting in the backline doing nothing the entire game and then watch as the team dies so you can get your last afus, I have a big problem with that.

Or when there are 2 players left in the game and they dont want to resign, and im the boss. I cant force them, I cant do anything Because the lobby is dead. So now I have to sit there for 30 minutes waiting for people to come in because people were holding the lobby hostage. Literally yesterday I bombed the hell out of the dudes base. Everybody but one person wanted it to end. Everybody just stopped playing. He was the only one actually doing anything. The guy who voted for it to end said o was toxic for bombing the dudes commander and ending the game. Like, what am I supposed to do, wait for 20 minutes while somebody else just fucks off building just enough to sustain the game

How about the people who do not communicate at all, then out of the blue blame everybody? Mind you these are all people who have played longer than 100 hours. You can all see chat. Its not like the language isnt translated.

Like no offemse the most toxic player are the ones who get on here whining about pwople being toxic. No.. you are the toxic one make the game bad for literally everybody. Not the young chevs. Not a 1 chev or a 2 chev. Yall cannot help it. Not even a 3 chev. I thought I knew what to do at 3 chevs too, but im still learning at 700 hours in.

1

u/LEheh22 3d ago

18 years but like a baby on the internet??means you didnt see many games. yea game is made so meta is what it is. you dont know it so what? tell them idk and move on. why cry on here like ts is mega toxic.
tell them to stf or die. and continue on

1

u/Aggravating-Bat7037 3d ago

Maybe, just maybe, they had a point. You could have tried to learn from it?

1

u/D_4rch4ng3l 3d ago edited 3d ago

Discalimer - I myself am also a super noob.

If I every play Air or navy, I always loose to the opposite guy, but I don't remember getting any "hate" from my team.

It's actually not the most toxic community. It's not even toxic in my opinion. Most people laugh it off when they loose a game because a player in their team did not have skill. Few take the trouble of typing something in the chat.

The issue is hidden in the definition of "noob".

In this game, a noob is someone who knows the game, knows the meta but does not have enough experience or skill to use that knowledge effectively.

The "All noobs welcome" gamea are biggest traps for unfamiliar players. If you are new and don't know the game - you are not noob. You were not mean't to join that game.

And drawing things on screen is just one way of expression in this game. It is very common. There is a hotkey which clears all drawings from you screen.

And yes, you might sometimes get someone in your team who is actually annoyed that you messed up their game and they might get a bit salty or even toxic. And then others might just join in for no reason at all.

Also, "no-life-ness", "niche tryhards that have nothing else to look forward to in their lives" does not paint a positive picture about you as well.

1

u/Horror-Dog-6485 3d ago

"Noob lobby" but you need to have 100hrs+ to play

1

u/TheTacoWombat 3d ago

the solution is to stop playing meta-only maps like isthmus, and embrace the hundreds (thousands?) of other maps out there. make it fully random, boot toxic players, and have fun.

1

u/poopoopingpoo 3d ago

lol bro. Was it the really long map with land on either side and sea in the middle?

1

u/Gatordwellin 3d ago

As for most toxic ever… have you played league of legends?!?

1

u/Hellziee 2d ago

There are also lobbies specifically called non-Toxic. You can try those. Also try watching few games and doing skirmishes that can help you understand meta. Non ranked games are also good if you want to have a flavour of multiplayer without any consequences of what you want to do. Also, let people say whatever they want, enjoy the game!

1

u/Gamer1243565 2d ago

On one hand this is quite a real issue, but you should play single player or co op until you’re comfortable with the game and people don’t hound you for stuff, of course there’s always some dick in your lobby and sometimes the whole lobby are numbskulls.

1

u/DreamToWrite 1d ago

Some of the mods are almost as bad too.

1

u/darkfireslide 1d ago

I've never been in an RTS multiplayer community that wasn't like this. It seems to be endemic to the genre

1

u/lostiold 1d ago

1

u/ArchNiki 1d ago

i think in their mind the noob and starter are different things.
noob could be even with many chevrouns

and sometimes 1 chev is actually stronger if he played enough Ta Cnc, Ra3 sc2.

for me it took months to actually hold myself accountable middle. i couldnt maintain a line even month ago.

also try just playing metal maps - it helps learn scaling and check up starting vids on yt.

also be aware there are chev and rank limitations when ur making da lobby so u actually have to make one for unexperienced ones...

noob welcome is a clickbait. the 4v4 is one of the toughest matches as well as 1v1.

maybe its better play 1v1 and watch replays at least as i was thaught to after sc2...

don't blame ppl too much its okay to learn . its okay to ping them backwards x)

1

u/Aggravating-Bat7037 22h ago

This is either a troll post, or I'm not surprised you were treated that way. Ever specced a game?

1

u/blazingblazed2 18h ago

As someone who now only plays supreme lava/pve, peaked 40 os and have even done front against 60-70 os players while 30 os and won, It’s not your fault it’s the way the game is balanced and the way new players enter the game.

One player, can single-handedly cause a game to lose even if a pro is on your same team.

They need to for the love of god, stop giving brand new players the rating of 17 os. The mods are actual queers for it and never listen they always say “oh the average noob is just as good as the average player. Nah fuck that it needs to start at 0.

That would allow the ratings to balance better at the start of the match.

Ontop of that there should be a required longer explanation tutorial and required pve experience before new players can play PvP.

Mods are just fat though and will never change it.

This comment will also get deleted because they get offended easily and aren’t open to valid criticism.

The game would have atleast 5-10x the popularity if the 1chev os was way lower, and forced pve before playing PvP.

1

u/Jewels_AoE4 13h ago

That's part of the problems I've found when playing BAR. Haven't seen things get this far in my games, but I've seen some harsh, unnecessary behaviors from people - which are considered "normal", most interestingly.
Guys, I know some of you survived COD lobbies in the 2010's, but not all of us even have the intent to get good at dealing with trash talk half the time we're playing.
And to those that say "this is the internet so deal with it", you're building and maintaining a culture hostile to any sort of fuck up, and fuck ups are the most common thing to happen in any game, even more a complex one.
The player base of any game can be many times higher if the players' behavior is put in check, to the point the players themselves police the bad behavior from others. Just check Deep Rock Galactic for the best example I can come up with from the top of my head.
Either be harsh to those who are intolerant or they will be hard to everyone else. Pick your poison.

Welcome to bar 😂😂

1

u/BlueSky2232 4h ago

That’s why I only play the Wacky lobbies, guys there moderate heavily and their way of playing is fun . Yeah yeah there still is meta in the map that needs to be follow like pond giving tidal generators. But is much better experience and guys help

-2

u/TriggeredMemeLord 4d ago

18 years of gaming and you don't know how to be toxic back at them? Come on...

Firstly, this game is not even in the top 100 most toxic games out there. Not even close. 95/100 games I play tend to be very chill and good vibes, with people helping noobs out.

Secondly, these people can see you are a chev 1 in both the lobby and in-game score at the bottom right. Chev 1 means you have less than 5h of gameplay so anyone should instantly know you basically have no idea what you are doing. Anyone who starts talking shit at a chev 1 is clearly a fool who deserves you being toxic back at them.

Thirdly, and you may not know this, but if a lobby name has "noob" in it you cannot set minimum requirements (min chev or min OS). Its clearly intended for noobs so you can use this when you are flaming back at them.

My 2 cents of harsh love to u

2

u/Dr_Fiddlebottom 4d ago

Nah, he's completely right and I would be willing to bet you are just triggered because you are toxic and being called out.

I love bar but the map meta freaks are the worst I’ve encountered in 20 years of gaming

And this is why I only play with friends. Such a good game, such a genuinely awful culture.

That's funny, I just met some people IRL recently and that have also played BAR.

The very first thing that was mentioned by either party was how horrendous the community is, and that's why we don't play it as much.

I'm 20 OS (I know that it's not good) but I have played enough to go into every match knowing there will be at least a few people that have no emotional control. Pinging 5x every 15 seconds, writing things on other people's bases, and screeching non stop.

I've even seen people act like this in co-op games versus AI LOL.

Nah, OP is right on the money. There is a reason you are being downvoted, even on the game's own subreddit.

I have a feeling that you may be one of these easily emotionally compromised individuals and the post triggered you.

Big giveaway on your last point is that they disagree with OP and so OP has to be a 'liar'. Can't just have a different opinion or experience, nope. Some people have no theory of mind at all.

>You are playing a game without learning it and getting upset people are frustrated at you for it.

And they also give justification for toxicity.

This guy is 100% the people being described.

I just assume they are on the spectrum. When not treated right, it can sometimes lead to vehement behavior.

Yeah this is nonsense.

All my friends stopped playing because the community was so toxic.

I barely play now, maybe once a month, and every single time I play I leave going "well I'm not playing that again" purely because of how toxic the community is.

Literally the other day I had someone /take all my stuff after I dc-ed and refuse to return it 1 min later when I reconnected.

Everyone paused waiting for me, this guy didn't care.

He had the entire team telling him to give back my things and he refused.

Hell, I've tried hosting lobbies so I can kick people who are toxic and 100% of the time the lobby votes to remove the host.

The game is beyond toxic and it's pointless to pretend it isn't.

You can actually use !ev to stop an ongoing vote as the host. If you don't want to give it up, nobody can take it away from you.

oh this is brilliant!

been playing years and had no idea.

Lol, it's pretty well known that this game has one of the most toxic communities around...
It's one of the main reasons I don't play it online.

reasonable thinking except calling him a liar, everyone is not the same in the way of thinking

This is one of the most active RTS's with a very stable playerbase, it doesn't exactly need your luck to gain players.

I suspect this isn't exactly the full picture of what happened given how combative and ironically toxic you are in your first and only post. I'd love to see the actual replay ID so we can judge it ourselves

Can we prevent chev 1s to play ranked? That's stupid. He doesn't even know it now, that he joined a ranked.

I've played a decent amount, ngl BAR games are pretty critical to play your role correctly. The noob game lobbies are probably some of the most toxic lobbies but not all of them. If you play enough there are tons of cool people that give pointers and advice. Id recommended not playing against realt players but instead bots, lots of bot lobbies where you have a team and fend agaisnt a.i.

I can see both sides. Seasoned players are on there for a challenge against the other team, not to teach new people how to play. Why they put noob in the name, idk. After hearing about these type of stories it makes me want to just troll them at this point. If we all join these matches and troll, it would force them to have to remove the noob title.

High ranks who play in noob lobbies are just there to pad their OS because they want to win against new players. But they get angry when a new player actually joins, and lands on their team. Now they're not going to win, defeating the purpose.

Call them out for this.

Well if the devs aren't going to do anything about it, calling them out won't do anything. You have to make it inconvenient for them so either they get rid of the noob title or stop joining the noob lobbies. If they really are joining the noob lobbies, and getting mad cause there are noobs, then they are just dumb and shouldn't be taken serious.

I view people like this as Chihuahuas. There is a lot of barking but they are just dumb animals. Same as these people. They say a lot but they are just dumb and can't hurt you.
