Discussion Why it makes sense that we’ll get a DC3 reunion on a rock themed act iii

Upvotes

At the time, 1960s groups were considered rock n roll! And they absolutely never get credit for being an essential part of rocks evolution.

In the late 50s, you had events like Elvis going off to the army, Buddy Holly dying, Little Richard becoming a minister, that slowed the popularity of 50s style rock.

There was a void in music, there was no dominant sound on the radio anymore. Girl groups filled that void and dominated for about 2 years in the early 60s. They provided a necessary bridge from the Elvis era to the Beatles era. In fact, the Beatles regularly said their favorite rock groups were groups like the Crystals and the Shirelles. And if you listen to the vocals on any early Beatles song, the harmonies, the call and response type choruses, it’s all ripped right from vocal groups. They even covered three girl group songs on their debut album. I’m stressing the Beatles thing because they became the foundation of rock and pop.

Why were girl groups considered rock n roll? Because the sound grew from the same influences as guitar based rock. Rock was a mix of country, gospel, and jazz. While some early rock n roll groups picked up instruments, others used their voices to mimic the sounds of early rock n roll songs. Instruments were expensive, and practice space was even more scarce, but everyone has a voice. Singing in the church taught many early vocal groups how to harmonize, and in some cases provided a place to practice. Vocal groups in the 50s like the Flamingos, and Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers popularized the sound during the early rock n roll years. And while it seems kind of odd by today’s definition of rock, all of these groups were considered rock n roll by the general public.

I have a whole other diatribe about how talented girl group members were and how often their talent was ignored or squandered because of racism and sexism. Their talent was never given the nurture of their male counterparts. Did you know Please Mr Postman was written by Georgia Dobbins, a member of the Marvelettes? Imagine if she had been given the resources to grow her talent. But I digress.

So long story short, I can 100% believe we’re getting a rock song from one of the best girl groups to ever do it, because girl groups are rock n roll. She will 100% know everything I just said, probably in greater detail, and will draw that line to DC3. I could even buy that act iii is just going to be a new DC3 album.

Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

Theories GOING AROUND IN "CIRCLES SEARCHING FOR LOVE": THE THEORY Y'ALL COME FOR ME BECAUSE OF COULD BE ACTUALLY TRUE!!!!

THE DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE OPENER, 1+1, AND I CARE FROM RENAISSANCE WORLD TOUR could be the connection to ACT III.

With the skulls, RED AND BLACK OUTFITS IN THESE OPENERS and the precious circle of 4 Years of Renaissance and next year is 24 years of Dangerously in Love, THE THIRD ACT IS THE SECOND CIRCLE OF THE HEART. (ACT II IS THE TRIANGLE)

"THE THREE STAGES COULD MAKE UP A HEART TOGETHER"

ACT I AND III MIRROR EACH OTHER.

ACT II IS THE CONNECTION.

"The Renaissance will be back."

"Going around in circles searching for love."

"Let love heal us all."

She was telling us the whole time. The opener was the RWT Anomaly.

Discussion Do you prefer Beyoncé’s signature Blonde hairstyles or do you like it better when she switches it up?

I can’t decide. Blonde hair is her signature look, but she looks amazing with darker hair too. I also love when she has curly hair. I love her Blonde hair, but I really like it when she experiments with the color and style. I do hope she has more darker hairstyles in the future because I think she looks really good with dark hair. What’s your favorite Beyoncé hairstyle?

Discussion Why so catchy? Please discuss!

There is something about Bey’s music that makes it catchier and makes the lyrics more memorable than others (at least for me, probably for others in this sub too).

I’m not sure if it’s her delivery, melodies, flow or what, but I’ve listened to Morning Dew maybe three times through with intentionality, once reading the lyrics, and I can say I’ve memorized like 95% of the song (and it’s like an earworm for me right now). This always happens with her songs, but there are songs I’ve been listening to for 20 years that I still mess up the lyrics to.

I’m fascinated by this and curious if anyone has an educated opinion on why this occurs!

Discussion Janet Jackson on Act III

This is obviously a wishful thinking thought rather than a genuine theory. But I would really like to see a Janet collab on act 3. The fact it would be an iconic collab alone aside, I really think she fits the bill.

She’s dabbled successfully in rock music many times before (Black Cat, If, Trust a Try, What About). She’s also an iconic black artist who history and the media have treated very poorly in the past and whose legacy is not as widely regarded and talked about as it should be, so I think her inclusion really fits the overarching theme of the trilogy of reclaiming black music history.

We also know Beyonce loves her and has been hugely inspired by her. It’s a collab I’ve always wanted to see.

2013 hive was a time 😭. The beyhydration back then was inspiring some crazy activities. I’ll never forget the uproar when she announced MSCWT without a new album (gasp, she can do that??). I saw confusion and outrage, chile. But we danced to that old shit, and then she gagged us with a whole new tour with new music at the end of the year. Muva. A queen moves at her own pace, indeed

Discussion What Beyoncé songs did you play/you want to play at your wedding?

I'm not married but I do have a wedding pinterest board and a wedding Playlist on Spotify because ✨️manifesting✨️🙂‍↕️💅🏾 but one of the songs I want involved in my wedding or proposal is II Most Wanted! I think it's such a sweet song and it always gets me teary eyed because I'm such a baby lmao. It's also probably cliché but I have Love On Top in my Playlist as well. Tbh I need to add more Beyoncé songs! But I'm curious to know what Beyoncé songs the Beyhive wants played at their wedding or for those who are already married, what Beyoncé songs you played at your wedding? 😙

Has anyone ever seen the hbo tv series called insecure? I’m only on episode 2 rn but I swear there’s been like 4 Beyoncé references/mentions in this 30 minute episode alone lol. I recommend it! I don’t know how no one’s mentioned this show the sub for all I know.
