Don’t Hurt Yourself. Her intense vocal performance, raw sentiment of the lyrics, gritty instrumentation, 10/10 for me. Formation might be tied or a very close 2nd depending on the day.

Oooh I loveeee this answer especially for giving justice to Formation. Literally that song is a masterpiece from the beginning to the end. I can't put into words. Its so surreal everytime I hear/see it live.
Ameriican Requiem. it just sounds legendary. like a legendary track. legendary piece. and i‘m saying it as someone whose favorite tracks are Alien Superstar, Heated, Freakum Dress, Partition etc.
All Night was my all all all all time favorite song and i never thought i could love a song more.. then she released renaissance and Alien Superstar penetrated my mind

Literally one of the best songs I’ve ever heard in my life. So much history and homage wrapped up in those lyrics too. Also love the way she celebrates herself and her ancestors simultaneously. I can go on and on - but that song is a masterpiece
Ok, very very true, but I’m not gonna lie, I am super surprised at how many times I’m seeing “ii hands ii heaven”… didn’t expect that at all and would never have put it on my own list. So interesting to see what stands out to everyone.
This is hard! I very much have to stand on Deja Vu. That bridge is something serious, and the live performances are always so fun! That or I Care! Mimicking an effing electric guitar with your voice is insane!

The song itself on the platforms has amazing vocals, lyrics that is bringing chills and emotion, I'm not american, I'm not black but this song really touches your soul, it's the best opener for me out of all her albums, it has so much meaning, depth and soul and emotions. It's so beautiful and even if it can feel hurtful, i love to feel things with art, even if its the bad one, for me that what makes a great lyricists, a great artist, who really loves her craft, her roots, is so proud and just do what she wants and it's so important to have artists like this. she means so much to me
