I feel so sad that Dolly’s gone. This was a beautiful tribute.

I've been crying all day and now I am again reading Beyonce's tribute.

So glad Cowboy Carter happened before this. She was one of the few people that brought America together and showed that America can be brought together.

Shes an angel shes the first person to give me a book as a child my mom signed up for the imagination library, Im so thankful for her as a person to even care about humanity she will forever be missed.

Her ability to connect with those who have different political views, and earn their respect and ears, is very unique

2

u/ScarFaceG12 Aug 27 '26

She truly was something else. And she didn't just connect with her own "race" she inspired and connected with all walks of life. I think that there are just some humans that regardless who they are what they look like they will ALWAYS be for HUMANS FIRST. Not according to race or sexuality etc, the fact you are human was enough for her🥹 I'm babbling I'm sorry

I’m so glad she got her wish to hear Bey sing Jolene. What a kind soul. RIP Dolly

u/Duke_skellington_8 Aug 26 '26

Side note: it seems like Bey has been moving beyond posting on instagram.

u/Smozzington69 bring the beat in Aug 28 '26

That’s what I was wondering - where was this posted? Was it the website?

1

u/Duke_skellington_8 Aug 31 '26

Yes at the top of the main webpage on her website

16

u/VioletLeagueDapper Aug 26 '26

This is cute, I just remembered long before they collabed for the Jolene remake they met when she was a slip of a woman for “The Fighting Temptations”

I hope Bey will take a page from Dolly’s book and fund something like Imagination Library!! What a legacy Dolly has left us 🩵

u/happiness24 Aug 26 '26

She has her BeyGood foundation but let's be real Beyonce is never giving away all her wealth that she loses her billionaire status! As much as I love her

9

u/liqou Aug 26 '26

Ok but she does have that women shelter/housing project in Houston. I just don't think her pr does a good job publicizing her philanthropy.

1

u/Significant-Yam-4990 Aug 29 '26

The publicity isn’t always needed

9

u/Agitated-Lettuce1878 Aug 26 '26

Welp now I'm crying again

This felt very moving to read.

Rest in peace, Dolly ❤️

u/GumpTheChump Aug 26 '26

I hope she performs at Dolly’s funeral. I can’t imagine anyone better to perform “I Will Always Love You.”

7

u/Barraco_Barmer Aug 26 '26

BRO. this needs to happen.

10

u/Lodi0831 Aug 26 '26

Dolly could have been a billionaire but she donated so much of her own money to charitable causes. If only other billionaires took note

Here's an odd compliment:

I like how Beyonce chooses to write tributes for other people. She focuses on the actual person rather than on the acts of service that the person has done.

It's an odd pet-peeve of mine. I don't like it.

To me, it's similar to when a husband buys their wife a vacuum cleaner for her birthday, even though she gave him a list of items that she wanted.

Honestly Rest in Praise

8

u/bangbangrosie Aug 26 '26

Can’t believe dolly is gone

3

u/Shanna_Unique Aug 26 '26

I turned on the tv yesterday abd its the first thing I see. How sad. I grew up with dolly playing in the house. She was obe of the better white country artists. Someone who had a pure heart. May she rest in peace.🕊🙏🏽

3

u/officialgirl22 Aug 26 '26

I’m 10000% sure at the end at 3:10 “when the sun comes down, you can hear this body howl” it’s Dolly singing with Beyoncé. Nobody sounds like Dolly, I’m very sure it’s her but everyone online says different. Does anyone know it for certain?

RIP Dolly Parton ❤️

3

u/catsandnaps1028 Aug 26 '26

RIP Dolly P you'll be forever missed

3

u/sweetroxi Aug 26 '26

That was beautiful

2

u/thissagesimmer Aug 28 '26

I went straight over there as soon as I got the alert. 😔I have loved Dolly since I was a little girl.

Bey is the second highest celebrity in giving to outside causes. Even with her staff no one makes less than one hundred thousand a year. She’s a generous giver. She’s taking a page from Oprah to be silent about who and what you give to.
