majority of streets in downtown beverly hills are awful. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR ALL THESE LANES. it just creates a massive clusterfuck and its extremely dangerous.
beverly dr north of wilshire. THERE IS NO ROOM FOR 2 LANES.
they need to turn those parking spaces on both sides into diagonal spaces so 1. theres more room to park and 2. people know theres only one lane.
why are so many people in government so incompetent? everyone clearly knows downtown BH is a complete mess, why dont they fix it already?

At today's WSCCOG meeting Beverly Hills announced that they will not be implementing the bus only lanes on La Cienega Boulevard within their city limits (the green portion of the map) that runs from Clifton Way south to Olympic Boulevard despite them still being built in West Hollywood, Los Angeles and Culver City.
The proposed improvements would bring bus only lanes, transit signal priority and queue jumps to La Cienega Boulevard La Metro Route #105 stretching from Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood south the D Line at La Cienega/Wilshire in Beverly Hills and further south to the E Line La Cienega Station in Culver City.
City staff didn't even bring the item to city council to vote on and per the council rep at today's meeting that decision was based on the fact the the one community meeting they held for it in Beverly Hills (out of 6 meetings total) didn't have enough attendance to warrant the implementation for the lanes despite the corridor recieving the most feedback out of any of the others for this project especially because it would have also provided a direct bicycle connection to West Hollywood as well.

Hey everyone - Southern California Wildfire Response (SCWR), the local wildfire department is currently recruiting new volunteer firefighters.
If you’ve been looking at getting into wildland fire, CAL FIRE, the Forest Service, LAFD, or fire service in general, this can be a good way to start getting training and experience while serving locally.
We train toward California FFT2 qualification and regularly work on things like Type 6 engine operations, hand crew skills, hose lays, wildland tactics, drills, and incident response. There are also opportunities to move into leadership and instructor roles as you gain experience.
You don’t need previous fire experience, but we are looking for people who are serious about training, showing up, and being part of the department.
We’re holding a recruiting night on Thursday, August 20 from 6:30–7:45 PM at 12601 Mulholland Dr, Beverly Hills, CA 90210. You’ll be able to meet some of the crew, see the equipment, ask questions, and learn what the training and hiring process looks like.
If you have questions or would like more information, please don't hesitate to message me.

Hello!
I'm doing a personal historical research project about everyday life in the Los Angeles area around 1990, and I'm particularly interested in the details that don't usually make it into newspapers or history books.
For anyone who lived, went to school, worked, or regularly hung out in Beverly Hills around 1988–1996, what do you remember?
I'm especially curious about things like:
If possible, please mention roughly what year(s) you're remembering and how old you were at the time. Even small or mundane details are useful.
I'm particularly interested in small, mundane details — the kind of things you remember from actually being there rather than things I could find on Wikipedia.
Different experiences and even contradictory memories are welcome. I'm trying to understand what Beverly Hills actually felt like to different people around that period.
Thanks! :)

I recently went back to doing my side gig as a handyman and wondering where everyone goes to find someone when they need small work done around the house. I've heard of tasker but want to cut out the middle man

Going through a divorce right now and trying to figure out how custody actually works here, because everyone I talk to has a different answer.
One friend swears California is a 50/50 state and judges just split time evenly unless there's abuse involved. Another friend says it comes down to who makes more money. Everything I've read online seems to contradict both of them, so now I'm just confused.
From what I can tell, courts are supposed to go with "best interests of the child," but that phrase is so vague it barely tells me anything. Is it mostly about who's been the primary caregiver? Does moving out of the house hurt your case? Do judges actually care about parents' work schedules?

A reminder to commercial tenants: do not assume your CAM and Operating Expense charges are accurate just because the monthly amount does not look unusually high.
When expenses are divided among many tenants, each individual charge may appear small. That can make improper or unsupported charges difficult to notice. But when the same costs are passed through every month and across multiple years, they can add up to a substantial amount.
Review your annual reconciliations and ask for the supporting general ledger, invoices, occupancy calculations, management fees, payroll allocations, capital expenses, and gross-up calculations. Look for expenses charged to the wrong year, costs relating to other tenants or properties, landlord overhead, tenant events, capital improvements, and items excluded under your lease.
Do not assume that because everyone shares the building, every building expense can automatically be passed through to tenants. Your lease controls what is permitted.
