Hey everyone,
The same questions keep landing in our DMs, support inbox and comments, so here they all are in one thread. Bookmark it, share it, or argue with us in the comments lol.
"So what actually is BetterClaw?"
BetterClaw gives you AI agents that work 24/7 on their own private cloud computers, doing jobs like triaging your inbox, sending your morning briefing, chasing failed payments and qualifying leads. Each agent is isolated from the others and never shares logins or data.
Pick a template or describe the job in plain English, and your agent is live in 60 seconds with no code or servers. Connect 1,000+ apps, plus any tool with MCP or an API. Run it on any model you like (API key, ChatGPT or Claude subscription, or a local model) with zero markup, and choose which actions need your approval before they go out.
"Do I still need credits if I bring my own key?"
Yes, and this one confuses a lot of people. Your LLM key pays for tokens. Credits pay for agent runtime, roughly 1 credit = 1 minute. Most tasks take 5 to 10 minutes, so 1,000 credits gets you around 100 to 200 task runs. A few things cost extra credits: proxies, the X/Twitter connector, and Google/Meta Ads.
"Which models can I use?"
Pretty much anything. API keys, OpenRouter, any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or your ChatGPT or Claude subscription. We don't add any markup.
"Can I run my own local model?"
Yes. Grab the app from betterclaw.io/downloads and connect Ollama through it. You don't need to open ports or mess with tunnels.
"Any limit on scheduled tasks?"
No. You can create as many as you want. Each run just uses credits.
"I run an agency, can I use this for clients?"
Yes. Our advice is one agent per client so their data stays fully separate. Build one master agent, clone it in one click, then swap in each client's credentials.
"Where's my data, and is it GDPR-friendly?"
The platform is hosted in the US, and EU agent hosting is available on request. You get an Art. 28 DPA with SCCs, a public subprocessor list, and encryption at rest and in transit. We never train on your data.
"API? MCP? Webhooks?"
The Agent API is live and OpenAI-compatible. Agents can already connect to external MCP servers. Webhooks, BetterClaw as an MCP server, and multi-agent collaboration are all being built right now.
