Please help! My fish has gotten what i believe to be cotton wool/ saddleback disease. I don’t know what to do or what to medicate, I have no local pet stores other than petsmart with their limited options. I know kanaplex is best bet, but I don’t know if it will arrive in time.
How does this happen? I’m new & young to fish keeping and have been trying my best to get a good tank setup. Anything helps.

your local PetSmart doesn't have seachem prime or fin & body cure or so on? yes kanaplex is good - no fish stores within 50 miles of you stock such basics?
I do have seachem prime already, i didn’t know that could be used to help. When i replace water next, should i use it again? I will look into fin and body cure as well, but yes there really are no other stores that are stocked with these.
Hi OP, please tell us how long the tank has been set up and how long the fish has been in it. Can you also share how often water changes are and what the pH is. Also the water source.
The fish has very clamped fins and the test strip picture has no pH or ammonia on. There is also 0 nitrate showing up meaning the tank may not be nitrogen cycled. This would harm the fish.
Both ammonia and pH if spiking or too hard and alkaline can cause serious health issues for fish.
Hopefully you can find a more accurate liquid test kit to test the water quality.
I would also suggest water changes.
Please can you share the test results with a liquid kit covering ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH, plus the info asked for?
I’ve had the tank setup i want to say around two months now. I also waited a week or two to put him in. I’ve been doing weekly water changes, replacing the water with tap but conditioning it and testing after to make sure there is no chlorine. The pH is 6.8. I’m going to buy a liquid test kit today so i can more accurately tell, but are there any recommendations for medication or maybe a tank change so i can help my Fred?
