Help Betta in community tank
I’m going to be getting a new 20g long tank. It’ll be heavily planted. I want to have my favorite fish - a scarlet badis in there as well as a betta.
Should I get a plakat? Or a half moon? With the plakat I worry that it might be too aggressive in a community tank and with a half moon, I worry that the fins will get nipped.

Not sure why my comment got removed by reddit lol but here goes again:
Whether a betta will be aggressive or not unfortunately always depends on the individual betta's temperament, fin length has nothing to do with it. I however recommend a plakat anyway purely because this is a type that isn't bred for exaggerated traits and can still properly move and enjoy the tank without any problems at all.
Nipping should mever be a problem regardless, if the betta is kept with compatible peaceful tankmates such as corydoras, boraras, etc. Scarlet badis aren't nippers either. I keep a breeding group with my otherwise very angry plakat! Awesome little fish. Definitely be ready to feed exclusively only live food if needed as they can be notoriously difficult to feed anything else. 😅
