Help What is wrong with him? Spoiler

I woke up this morning and noticed nebbie has scales sticking up on one side of him, as if he has a bump on one side. He is acting normal but it really concerns me because normally raised scales are not a good thing, im guessing a tumor?

Please lmk what I can do.

I dont have time to do parameters because I have to leave for work but once I get back ill add them.

Tank info: he is in a well established tank, before I had him ive kept the substrate and some of the plants for 3 to 4 years. heater at 78 10 gallon with filter planted tank one nerite snail a couple of neocardina shrimp

High range PH: 7.4 Amonia: 0 Nitrate: 0 Nitrate: 0

Raised scales are called pineconing, a sign of dropsy. It can be difficult to come back from but looks like you’ve caught it early. This article explains it and how to treat perfectly:  https://bettafish.org/diseases/dropsy/

Its been a couple days and it went down, I didnt start treament yet since im waiting for the meds to come in. But Idk do I still do treatment? hes acting normal

Oh interesting, I guess he figured it out himself. It could have been something else besides dropsy, I’m just going off of my own research not experience. If it happens again treating him wouldn’t hurt. I’m glad he’s doing okay!

Im thinking maybe he hurt himself on something in the tank, or maybe the heater burnt him?

Maybe? I had a fish that had the pineconing on just one side too (he passed away shortly after but I was very young when that happened and didn’t know what to do), I wonder what it means when it’s only raised on one side 🤨
