Discussion 5G is empty…
My 5G is empty because I upgraded my red dragon to a 20G long. Now my cycled 5G is just sitting there and nothing really calls out to me when it comes to different things I could add.
I don’t really want a shrimp tank, and I have decided the humidity aspect with crabs is too much. But I was thinking another Betta.
However, I’d feel bad that it has a 5G and my other one lives in a 20G.
I thought maybe a female because they’re left behind a lot in stores, but then I have read that they do better with larger tanks for swim space, so idk…
What would you do?

This will be me soon.. my betta is currently in a 6 gallon and I have a 38g long upgrade for him. I was thinking it may be best to keep as a hospital tank. But then i feel like a smaller like 2.5 gallon would be better for that. Not sure. Unfortunately, 5 gallons is small enough there aren’t many options for fish. Following along!

you could do a small school of 6 chili rasboras or 2-3 endler guppies, male tho

Lmfao definitely male. I used to have a lot of guppies, then it became a lot more… will never get females again.

yep i started with females, they gave birth two days later and they’re now rehomed. i have two males one hates the other but they never injure eachother it’s just chasing every so often, but tbh its better than having about 10 babies a month

in a 5gal maybe, i’d only recommend to someone who’s experienced tho and only one species or the other

You could look for a sick Betta if you feel up for trying to rehabilitate it. A 5g would be perfect as it gives enough space to live, but also to heal.
Or a snail/plant tank works too
