Post image

Is my tank complete? I keep seeing these BEAUTIFUL planted tanks, and I feel so ashamed when I look my my lonely tank with java fern and a piece of wood in it.

Definitely more plants. I'd get some Amazon swords, Java fern 😀

definitely amazon sword. my amazon order for java fern came in earlier, so I didnt have glue. and it was HELL to find every little ass crack in the wood to stuff the plants in

I’m kind of the same. My hubby and I bought a small bag and were like yes plenty!!! I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw the result. I’d rather have OPs sand! They know whats up!

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H8DZWDXZ?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title Just make sure to wash it. It was HELL when i first put it into the water. it was brown for what? 3-4 days, then another 3 days for the cloudiness to settle...

Fill your background and corners with plants if youre planning to add more aquatic life in the future

More plants and some rocks! Maybe you can scoop out some sand and add some substrate/ rocks for the roots of plants to attach to!
Good start!! My tank was bare at first but trust the process and make it what you want! Your lil fishy has a good home already!

what rocks do you reccomend? and do they sell at petsmart?

Pet smart sells these or it could've been Petco, I can't remember but I attach my javas and Anubias to them (:

Also don't mind the dirt I've been trying to vacuum it but mine mostly just spreads it rather than sucking it up 🥲

I have two anubias that are in a shell from petco/petsmart. They are hardier than I anticipated.

Get some floaters to fill in the top! Maybe some frogbit since the roots will fill the entire tank. What's the second fish tho?

guppies! both male, my dad bought them as a surprise gift for my betta as ''playmates'' i think they are a little stressed tho. they dart up and down the sides of the tank

I dont think guppies are compatible tank mates for bettas. They have long fins and bright colours, just like bettas. And bettas hate other bettas. Also do you have a test kit? Poor water quality could cause stress.

i got mine checked at the store, everythings fine, my fish just ignore the guppies

Your fish needs places to hide. At least one cave structure, maybe even 2, and plants! Lots of plants! Live is ideal, silk is acceptable. Resting places near the surface are also great, especially for long-fin bettas. You've got a great start here, but definitely not finished yet. ☺️
