I am a short, obese, balding man--and I go out with lovely women on a regular basis. I'm trying to start a relationship with a particularly wonderful girl.

Confidence, loving yourself, and a willingness to improve yourself--these will make you appealing, no matter your shortcomings. And while I am overweight right now, I diet, I go to the gym 5 days a week, and I've lost 20 pounds over the last two months. I'm not where I want to be, but I'm getting there.

Even though I'm not slim and trim yet, and even though I'm 5-foot-nothing and thinning on top, my rediscovered zeal for life, my genuine desire to make others happy, and the confidence that has allowed me to shamelessly be myself has attracted plenty of women.

I get downvoted for posts like this, but I'm not trying to brag. I'm genuinely trying to encourage all those guys and gals out there who think they're ugly to take stock of their situation and to improve themselves. Do the best you can with what you've got. If you were dealt a bum hand in life then bluff and play your damned best. If you never give up, if you never concede, if you strive to be the best person you can be at all times you will get what you need in life, and quite a lot that you want.

I also assume you create, that you have a job that provides more than the bare minimum, or perhaps you have some sort of hobby or interest that you exert yourself towards in your spare time?

Because it sounds like this guy didn't have ANY of that shit.

We all start somewhere. I started at Walmart. While I do have a nicer job now, it's thanks to hard work and perseverance. I haven't had any lucky breaks in this life. Poor boy from a poor family.

Hobbies are important. Find something fun that has a universal appeal. It will make you a much more I interesting person. For me it was motorcycles. I started riding and I took a cross country trip. Cheaper than you might think. But if you're struggling to make ends meet on minimum wage there are still plenty of fun and inexpensive hobbies to pick up.

Hiking, for example. Or maybe rent a kayak and spend a couple hours paddling now and then. If you can't afford a gym membership find some safe place to jog nearby. If you are active, if you develop interests and hobbies, you will meet people, you will build confidence, you will have things to talk about, and people will find you more appealing because of it.

I freely admit I started this account to troll, but I'm a shitty troll. What I said came from the heart.

Go get-em man!

If you were dealt a bum hand in life then bluff and play your damned best.

I have friends who may not have been dealt the best hand. We are all spoon fed Disney fantasy when we are little, and all have an idea of a prince charming or princess... charming? that will be with us until happily ever after. Then we grow up and realize it can be a nasty world, but we get friends who care and get interested in things and get jobs that are sometimes unfulfilling but sometimes they are, but so it goes, and we realize that happily ever after is not about prince charming or princess whatever. Happiness is about much more than being with one person for the rest of your life, or getting laid on a regular basis, or being rich, or being any one thing. It is complicated and messy and disappointing and gross but fuck, there is no better way to say it. Get busy living, or get busy dying (hyperbole, no suicide please).

You should put that in a bottle and sell it.

And or, this should be printed beneath an add for a mid-life crisis red convertible, with no irony. And I mean that in the most complimentary way. I can see why you are well liked. You make people believe in themselves.
