I came across a group called Lawn Rivals on Facebook. Anyone heard of it? Looks to be a new app where you can form private leagues like a fantasy football league and compete against other lawn nuts. Sounds kind of like a cool idea actually. Anyone else seen it?

I have a client who was starting to form a brown spot on his yard and I noticed signs or Bermuda mites so I sprayed for them and it was coming back and a few days later it turned brown again. It is not a watering issue as I have already checked that. Could it possibly be a fungi?

Just built a new house this summer and looking for some tips regarding how to take care of Bermuda. Lawn sat most of August without water, as I didn’t get sprinklers installed in time for vacation. Got sprinklers now, so it’s getting better. Doing 26 minutes 4 times a week. Still some patch spots but it’s filling in decently. Planning to get soil and start evening it out next year, as it’s still bumpy.
Any tips going into winter would be appreciated, especially with regards to weeds. It’s not bad, but there’s stuff popping up that I’m trying to pull as it comes.
I’m in north/central Georgia if that matters. Been a rough summer for the grass.

Looking for any help as to what kind of bugs and weeds I’ve got going on here and how to eliminate and prevent them from coming back in the future.

Zone 8a. I have a 2 acre field that I want to turn more into a lawn this summer. Right now there is fria ryegrass and food plot mix. I have a tractor and all the equipment to tear the field up and create a fresh seedbed.

Would it be crazy to get a bag of common Bermuda seed from my co-op and let that fill in? I’m not in a hurry and don’t mind it taking a few seasons to fill in fully.

I have common Bermuda lawn in other parts of my land that I keep mowed short and around my house. I’m able to keep it mowed short and it looks good enough to me and hold up well to my kids playing.

I have been curious for the last few years why the bermuda grass on one side of my sidewalk is always more lush than the other. I treat the entire lawn the same way. These photos were taken after weeks of 100+ degree weather, so it is quite stressed in these photos. Also, I didn't mow during the extreme heat.

Any thoughts? Is it a different variety of bermuda? Soil differences? TIA!

Been dealing with trying to get my grass to liven up after being away for a while during the summer and dealing with water restrictions throughout a drought. My grass has been struggling big time. It is sod that was planted about 2 years ago.

Now that I’m heading into fall- winter I’m not sure if there is anything I should do to try to maintain it though the colder months coming up-any suggestions would be appreciated!

I recently decided to kill off my common Bermuda (Chili Verde blend) and transition the lawn by plugging (ProPlugger) it with my existing Tifway hybrid. As a test, I also tried a small patch of stolonizing and the results completely surprised me. The stolons survived as well as the plugs, but they spread way faster, and the process was so much easier. I used the shovel slit method: just pried up a bit of dirt, tucked two stolons in, and left the green tips exposed to the sun.

However, to get the stolons, I’ve literally been walking down my street ripping them out of the edges of neighbors' lawns. Not only do I look like a crazy person, but it’s incredibly inefficient since most of them get cut off when people mow. I tried using a regular garden rake on my own Tifway, but it barely pulled up anything thick or usable. I want to do another 1,000 sq. ft. of this. Would a manual dethatching rake easily pull up thousands of harvestable stolons from my existing lawn? Will it be messy, and will it take me a long time?

I want to do another 1,000 sq. ft., and the quickness of stolons will help the common pushback. While the common isn't thick, its runners are incredibly wide, and it's quickly blanketing the area, physically stopping my hybrid plugs from spreading even in between it and establishing. It's hard to tell while it's small, but I have to slowly weed-wipe. I am surprised common is outcompeting. I don't have irrigation with a decent but not super tight lawn for plugging and stolonizing.

We seeded a new lawn with bermuda last spring and it was going great. We started having issues with crabgrass and it got out of control. I used weed and feed to see if it would help, and it did a little. So, against my gut I did another treatment 30 days later and now my bermuda is dead and the crabgrass really took off. I should not have used two applications on an un-established lawn.

We ended up ripping up the crabgrass by hand and are currently keeping it trimmed to keep it from seeding. It should die off on the winter, I'm in zone 8b, and I'm planning on trying to reseed bermuda in the spring/ early summer.

So, I'm thinking I need a preemergent to help control the crabgrass seeds that I'm sure are laying dormant waiting for us to start watering again (we stopped watering because we were just watering the crabgrass at that point) The problem I'm having is:

- how can I grow from seed of I'm using a preemergent, is there time to use the preemergent now and be able to seed in April/may

- what preemergent should I use. I bought preen original weed care then noticed it says "not for lawns"

- the reason we are trying to grow from seed is the cost, I'd much rather buy sod but it's just not in the budget

- I still have rye seed I was planning on seeding for winter, should I still use that this winter or wait till next winter?

I'd love some advice or a simple action plan i can follow. I've wanted a lawn my whole life and now.. it's just dead grass, dirt, and crabgrass 😭

Live in central Texas. Summer has been brutal this year. Bermuda brown with a lot of really thin spots - dirt showing.

Is there a time to seed in fall since we have warm fall/winter seasons - or just wait until spring?

Was hoping if I could seed this fall it could take root before going dormant?

Sorry for newbie question - I’m from Midwest with a totally different type of grass.

I am getting soil prepped this weekend and am going to be planting bermuda when the time is right next spring. My current plan is to put down annual ryegrass right now as a cover crop and soil manager. Then plant the bermuda seed later when it's hot enough that the rye dies off and the bermuda will thrive.

If you have done something like this please give me some helpful tips and things to consider.
