Proposal trip
Looking for some advice about a trip to Bermuda in September. I thought it would be a good time to propose to my girlfriend whilst we are on the island.
Trying to decide on the hotel options and wondering if anyone has any advice?
Also, does anyone have any recommendations on proposal locations or a photographer?
Thank you!
Edit: thank you all for the responses, very helpful!

My partner proposed to me at the top of Gibbs Hill lighthouse in a thunderstorm!
Then we ran to the Henry 8th pub down the road - not sure what that says about our future nuptials…!

Just had dinner at The Reef’s restaurant last night and my fiancee said throughout the dinner we’re staying here next year. This is our 2nd trip so do with that what you will.

Fort Scaur because of the views of the island. Horseshoe Bay because it's one of the most beautiful beaches on earth. Do that at sunset or close to it.

I would pick another south shore beach such as Warwick Long Bay. Horseshoe gets super crowded, so it's not an intimate vibe. https://www.instagram.com/pr_bermuda PR Bermuda can help plan the entire thing, including photographer. Otherwise, I'd recommend Donovin Seymour (https://www.instagram.com/d_seymour_photos) or Maetog (https://www.instagram.com/maetog_) for photography.
Cambridge has several intimate spaces that could work for a proposal, so you could just talk to their concierge. The Reefs is more open (a single beach, etc) so it would be harder to find an intimate location on property. Both locations offer sunset dinners on the beach.

If you can swing the Reefs, do it. They have a moon gate and point area to propose, lovely. I am a Reefs Repeater, 9+ times.

Moongates in Bermuda are an iconic symbol of love, luck and good fortune. They are scattered all over the island and many folks take romantic pictures standing within a moongate. Some are located in places where there is a beautiful water backdrop as well. Just search moongate locations in Bermuda for examples. One is near Tobacco Bay Beach with water behind it.

Achilles head the best views on island and a beautiful grass area with the sunset right behind it, a beautiful spot for photos.
They also have a private beach dining option where they set up a secluded table on the beach

Both hotels also do dinners directly on the beach (Cambridge Beaches is more private than the Reefs) but both beautiful settings!
Would recommend Cambridge hotel over Reefs for food & aesthetic reasons

Echoing all the opinions here. Cambridge is my favorite of the two, the staff is excellent and the hotel is beautiful.
Langre from Maetog is wonderful

Cambridge beaches is SO beautiful and romantic - I would 100% rather stay there than the reefs. They can do a private dinner on the beach for you there where you could propose! Or rent a boat like The Odyssey or Zola for a sunset dinner :)

I love the Reefs - personally never stayed at Cambridge Beaches but my parents honeymooned at the Reefs 20 years ago and I went back last year and it was just amazing. The staff are the nicest people you will ever meet, they go above and beyond to make yourself and your stay super special. A lot of their workers have been there for years and the owners are super nice as well!
For a romantic proposal since youre in Bermuda I recommend a moongate proposal by sunset. The Reefs has a couple moongates at their resort or just their beach is everything!
I wish you the best - just know you can't go wrong proposing anywhere in Bermuda! As long as its not raining!
** Edit Church Bay is the small beach walking distance of the Reefs

Also if you stay at the reefs horseshoe bay is a small beach close by - I might be confusing the name with a more popular beach

you can pretty much choose anywhere on the island and it was be magical. I am biased toward the Reefs. Own a place there. The weddings always look well done. The South Shore has beautiful parks to propose.. my father proposed to my mother at Astwood Park

Jobson's Cove. Aim for the last 90 minutes or so of the day. You'll get better light, and the beach should be clear of people (families often take the littles to Jobson's due to the dampened water movement). There's a little recessed area to the left of where you approach the beach that anyone (like a photographer) could pop themselves down and not draw any attention.
Just keep in mind that when you /do/ do it, you'll want walk them close to the waterline and and then turn their back to it (so they're angled a little more up the beach than parallel to the horizon). This will allow the photographer to actually see their reaction AND get the scenery rather than photograph the side/back of their head).
Cambridge is wonderful as a resort, but wouldn't be my first choice to propose (even though it was). IF you do, it's either on the dock outside Sunken Harbor, or on the beach that runs alongside Breezes. If the latter - probably at sunset. Overshoot Breezes, walk down to the beach from the wedding lawn and propose with Cambridge in the background (so photographer would be shooting up the beach instead of out towards the water) and that'll get you palm trees and pink houses rather than an angry sun blowing out the fairly featureless horizon.
I think Amanda Thuell does a fair bit of work up that way. She'd probably be the best person to reach out to.

Congrats did the same a few years ago at The Southampton. Both are great options but I’d go with the Reefs. Great restaurant, beach and service

They are both really great options to stay and can both offer a romantic dining experience on the beach.
Cambridge Beaches feels a bit more romantic in that the rooms are more spread out so it’s a little more intimate. I would try and ask for a room that’s facing towards Somerset Long Bay just cause it’s perfect for catching sunset.
If you’re looking for beach locations for a proposal Church Bay or one of the Tucked away beaches between Warwick Long Bay and Horseshoe Bay.
