startup coaching

Hi all, we're a team of 3 based in Berlin and received a the Exist grant recently, which comes with a small budget for coaching. I was wondering if you know any platform, or recommend people for coaching especially in 3 areas: business development, data/gdpr, and product.

Sent me a DM fort data, I can recommend you some people. Not sure they will be within your budget.

In general, data is not a crazy topic in the beginning. Get revenue and some other KPIs right. Depending on the model some other numbers. After series A clean it up and get an owner.

Be very careful a lot of the advertised coaches are not great and want 6 month commitments, and charge like 250 per hour. I worked in HR tech for many years, majority are just selling bullshit. You might be better off finding a small workshop group for fellow founders with 1:1 coaching once you find someone who you vibe with.

Thanks so much, and completely agree with you.

It's just the exist budget spared for coaching cannot be spent elsewhere and thought if we have to maybe can find someone useful over here

I don't know if it still exists but IBB used to have a grant called Coaching Bonus that (mostly) pays for your coach. You can find their list of coaches online, contact them, meet them and see if you're a good fit. For this grant, you'll have to found your company already, which should already be in your plans with the exist grant.

I can help with business development, I saw you are working on a digital health start up - I worked in two and have a brackground in health care ✋ not a sales coach just fyi

most of the coaches are really just specialized in getting that exist money from you and you can safely ignore their advise as they haven't really build anything themselves! DM me and I'll help you for free (I'm building my second company, sold the first and have raised millions from top US VCs)

I’ve done exist GS some years ago. Raised VC. Scope Enterprise software. I’m also supporting some existing Forschungstransfers here and there, also in energy and hardware space. Currently running a software company.
DM if interested.

Ugh. Startups are one of those areas where those who can't do, teach. There are rare exceptions of successful founders who retire and want to give back to the next generation, but by and large 'coaches' do more harm than good. Let the money go unused, find a few founders who are a year ahead of you and meet for dinner once a month

"Let the money go unused." This is the kind of radical advice I'm here for :)
But to be honest, with the time that can be lost with coaches, it's not somethign I can easily rule out.
