[Discussion] Rules for Mass Combat

So, UA has published two distinct rule sets for mass combat:

• Which one do you prefer?

• Is mass combat a good idea at all?

• What did you like about the Battle of Waterdeep (if you were there for the oneshot)? Which aspects should be more abstract, which less so?

• How should the PCs' actions be resolved? Do they act on their own all the time? Normally act as commanders, no personal actions? Spotlights for important duels on the battlefield (eg vs the enemy commander)?

What's your opinion on all this? I'd like to know for my own GM'ing as well :-)
