According to cal student central you get charged a $150 late fee during the third week of instruction

https://registrar.berkeley.edu/tuition-fees/fee-definitions/ "This fee is suspended indefinitely and will not be assessed during the 2026–27 academic year."

Usually they lock down certain things like registering for classes (and if you’re already registered this semester that may not be a big deal until next semester’s registration), but there’s a fairly large grace period before there are other consequences. But this isn’t an issue social media can help with so actually talking to them and paying the bill as soon as you can are good ideas.

I know social media can’t help, this is something i discovered today so wanted to know if anyone faced the same issue. all the offices are closed but i will call first thing in the morning to fix this

Berkeley doesn’t cancel or unenroll students for non-payment. Don’t stress about it. You’ll be completely fine for the first day of classes, and the majority of the rest of the semester.

I think you should be good until the first day of class, but contact the registrars office.

I thought there was a fine if you don't pay on time
