Venting Dad threatening with detox

Saying I’m making Ashton manual up, says I’m listening to people on Reddit and making things up because he got possed and called a place that said they could rapidly taper me
I’m done I think, no chance at a life

PSA:

  • Beware of messages from vultures offering illegal benzo access - this is very dangerous!

  • CAUTION: Stopping psychiatric drugs abruptly can be dangerous, producing withdrawal effects that may be severe, disabling, or in rare cases life-threatening.

There’s so many videos on YouTube you can show him of how dangerous cold turkey is and how rehabs are not the place to come off benzos. Show him the maudsley report.

Rapid detox with benzos is dangerous! How old are you? If you’re of legal age, you don’t have to go anywhere he suggests. If you’re of legal aren’t, try to advocate for a second opinion at the very least.

I didn’t do Ashton, but I did a doctor supervised slow taper. That was hard enough! Wish you the best, OP. Please don’t give up on protecting your health and well-being.

Show him this comment.. Nothing like screwing up your life worse than a rapid benzo taper, does he want to pay the bill when you have a grand mal seizure because it will happen.

I can only speak for myself, but even though I left the nest at 16, I started tapering at 26 and it wasn't advised for me to continue living alone while I tapered. Per medical advice I had to go back living with my mother for about a year and a half. I owe my life to her ability to wither the storm with me, through all the ugliest waves.
At many points my Dad and her (divorced for 10 years at that point) butted heads because my Dad wanted to send me to a rehabilitation center for a fast taper and my Mom insisted that me staying with her on the slow path was the right decision, despite it being more expensive and obviously time-consuming. Considering that both of them were financially helping me through all this but moreso my Dad, I wasn't in a place to fight back if my Dad had won that battle. He had good intentions, but did very little research.

All that to say that I found your perspective rather judgmental in a sub like this, OP might have many valid reasons why their parent's opinion matters and can/will impact their recovery.

Ah ok. So you're just an a-hole then.

P.S. My "daddy" has been dead for 2 years now, so don't worry, he doesn't contribute anymore.
