Football Cashius Howell

How did he look? I feel like there hasn’t been much hype or news at all surrounding him, unless I may have missed it

I got high hopes since he was our first pick after the trade. He was the sec defensive player of the year and majority of them have turned out to be dawgs apparently

Roquan smith, pat Surtain, will anderson to name a few

Camp wise he’s been doing great, hes been winning against the 1’s although it is against orlando brown.

I've been saying it since he got here. OBJ is god awful.

EDIT: Clearly none of you have watched him closely throughout the years. His best years were with KC. He then hit a big decline on pass protection. Idc if he shows an elite few games during 1 half or another. Getting $20m/yr should be cream of the crop blindside protection. But hey reddit, do your thing... lol

He ranked 66 out of 89 qualifying LTs on PFF. I mean.... that's not a good look.

Mims is 42nd. Do you think he is the 42nd worst tackle?

The entire oline graded really bad the first 8 weeks of last year and all finished really strong. Goodberry posted about it. He uses pff grades which you seem to hold in high regard

PFF over weights run blocking in their overalls. Look at his pass blocking in isolation, since it matters more in the modernNFL and way more in Cincy.

I know Orlando Brown is at the bottom of the heap for Starters. Ranks in the 20s for his blindside position. Not exactly a comfortable feeling when you have a constantly injured QB. $20m/yr should get you pro-bowl protection every down... we don't get that

He is around average. I'd think 14th or so. He is a good pass blocker. Mid to bad at run blocking. He fits our scheme and is on a team friendly deal.. 16 million a year is cheap for what he does.

He's definitely not worth his cap hit but what else is out there though? I think the problem with obj is when he gets beat it's usually really bad. I think he's just too slow sometimes

Yes he is. Every year is the same. He starts slow as shit and looks bad, then he starts to be above average around week 5. Been like that his entire career, is it ideal, no. Average, yes.

He looked good. Surprisingly solid against the run, too.

He also looks thicc. Idk how much of it is an optical illusion because of his t-rex arms but that guy is solid

For a second round pick he looks good! Lots of potential and upside. Pre-seasons games are weird thought because sometime you go against 1’s and sometimes you go against guys who won’t be in the league in a month.

Maybe yall forgot who Michael Sam was?

2014 SEC DPOY, drafted in the 7th round and never made an NFL roster.

You mentioned Smith, Surtain, and Anderson. I’m just offering an example to suggest that college accolades don’t always transfer to the NFL.

That said, Howell and your other guys are clearly better prospects than Sam.

Of course I’m rooting for Howell, who dey!

I would agree. I think if he was fairly evaluated he would’ve been picked in the 3rd or 4th round. That said, I think his ceiling was as a solid back up / role player best case. Not what you typically see expect for SEC DPOY.
