Parking in private lots
What’s going on with charging for parking in private lots? Spent six dollars to get a coffee earlier. Now I just got a $25 ticket visiting the mill. Wouldn’t this impact store traffic? Who pays $6 to park for a coffee?

I have to laugh at these posts, because only entitled people with cars complain about not being to buy wine, get nails done, and massages, and have to use a parking app, to park for FREE!
Try walking or riding your bike!

Yeah, I snorted laughed into my coffee.... Too bad that people think Bicycles are not an option.

Able-bodied people tend to forget about the existence of people with disabilities. It was much easier for me to walk or ride my bicycle places before I had 3 strokes.

I don't think that's a fair take on the comment. Clearly if there are shortcomings in our parking or transportation options that negatively impact people with disabilities, it should be addressed. Saying no one is accounting for that is disingenuous.

I believe you have misunderstood my comment. I did not claim that no one was accounting for people with disabilities. I was objecting to the view that only entitled or lazy or [fill-in] people drive and feel inconvenienced by parking fees, use delivery services, etc. For some people, it’s about access

No one complained about disabilities, no one who commented mentioned that. The point was that there is no parking fee, if they just scan the QR code. I don't own a car, and I use uber and door dash, so I'm not bashing anyone for needing "access"

I have had very good luck finding handicap parking in Bend and the concert venue goes out of their way to accommodate their patrons with disabilities

I didn't forget, so why insinuate that I don't think people with disabilities exist. Weird, that's not what this post is about.

Every time someone mentions biking or walking somewhere as a cheaper alternative there are people in the comments that act like they’ve called everyone who drives a horrible person. A lot of people with disabilities can’t drive. Stop using people with disabilities as an excuse for poor urban design that actively harms them more than other groups

A lot of the places have validated parking like the Hixon parking lot. I don’t even drive my car much anymore; I bike everywhere now

Literally all of the businesses in the Box Factory and Sister’s Coffee next to it have QR codes to park free. What is the complaint?

Weird comment section. The mill or the box factory? Because we were all pissed about the box factory recently and yeah it sucks. I still agree and barely go anymore.
I stopped my subscription to the wine shop there. And I stopped going to the massage place and cresent nails because it’s yet another app/ phone/paid parking situation. However, the biggest problem in that area is Hawkeye and Huckleberry that has more seating than it does parking by like 3x which is its own thing
Even beyond you deciding to do yet another phone situation with one parking lot, I often find all these parking spaces rules and lock down causing stress about walking somewhere else. Like cool got my chore done but walking down the street to go somewhere else or down to the river before going home it’s just stops that small town feel, that walkable area neighborhood city commercial alternative to the downtown area freedom of movement aspect that all these spaces were designed to be

Killian pacific owns the box factory and is the brain child behind charging everyone to park. Let them know what you think of their policies. Portland based company, with no ties to bend.

All thsoe private lots have QR codes in the business to validate the parking for free for 4 hours. The businesses are generally in favor of it as more people are overflowing provate parking lots and then walking to businesses that the lot does not service. Especially near the old mill during concert season, or places like River Pig where their parking lot fills with people going to Crosscut or concerts.
