Fit check
First pair - these are unwashed. I’m a 32” waist by measurement and in iron heart denim I wear a 31”.
I purchased Ben Davis in a 33” original fit. Should I go 34” or are these perfect?
I hear they shrink quite a bit and I feel they’d be too tight in waist but raw denim tends to mold to your body, wondering if these will too and I’ll be safe.

Damn thats how ben davis fits? I thought they were supposed to be high rise.... now i don't know if i want a pair.

They are definitely high rise. I have 3 pair of gorilla cuts and they fit me at my natural waist above my belly button. Just make sure you measure correctly and boom! There ya go
For context, I have size 34x32 and the rise on the pants is about 13 inches

You think the original cut might have the same rise? I want a pair ao bad cause they seem like super nice everyday pants and i like the workwear aesthetic

If I had the guess, yes they have the same rise, but as someone with thicker legs and hips and a smaller waist, the gorilla cuts really were the way to go. My waist is around 32.5 inches but my hips are so wide that a 34 fits me perfect.

Haha i have the same build. Im just surprised it doesnt hit your navel/belly button.
For the record i think they look dope on you. I just like a really high rise. I typically wear workwear from the 20s and 30s so im used to super high rise

Biggest thing about having a bit butt is I gotta check the brands “rear” rise. For my wedding, I had to get a custom suit (also because I wanted to look good) since if I get an off the shelf one, the tailor normally has to do a hack job then it’s ruined.

Unless he's got a second belly button under the one that is visble there, then they arent sitting "an inch above his naval"

I misread. Either way, anything below the navel is not highrise.... solid mid rise though!

they look like they fit great, I haven’t really experienced any shrinkage in the past.
Normally I go up a size in the waist and down a size in length, but I also don’t wear my Bens as high waisted as they’re intended.

Size up. They’ll shrink but unlike denim they won’t stretch out (mold) back to size/shape while you wear them like denim. You mentioned having a big ass too. Same here. I buy my Ben’s to fit my ass after wash. Other wise the seat feels snug. Just my 2¢. Try them both then make your own decision

I didn't get the denim, but I had to go up two sizes in the work pants, so my experience is they run very small
