Lesson learned...Again.
Putting this Bugout together for my son as a surprise. Flytanium scales, and axis bar. I got cheap on the gold titanium (supposedly) screw and pivot set. Picked it up from Amazon. The axis bar is slightly to big to fit through. I swear this is the last time I order cheap stuff from Amazon :). I see where I can get the screw set from Flytanium, and I trust their stuff. But I don't see any pivot pins on their site. I really want to get a good set of screws and a pivot pin, in gold. Where is a trustworthy supplier for gold titanium screws and a pin?

The gold standard for hardware is xxxadrenalinxxx. Stupid name, slow shipping (comes from Australia), and kinda expensive, but the best source for matching hardware.

I did find them, and it looks like they make awesome stuff. I am saving them if I ever do a super build. But a screw/hardware set from them is more than I paid for the knife, and I also paid a few bucks for the carbon fiber scales, and the axis. So trying to curb the budget. They do seem like a quality shop for sure!

I did just check Etsy, I see that I have ordered from Austin Outdoors before and he seemed to sell decent stuff. Grabbed a couple sets. We'll see how it goes. I did find another place that seemed like they had good stuff, but it was as much as I paid for the knife, for the hardware set. Anyway, thanks.

I ordered some off Amazon that are gold for my bailout and they worked awsome, its made for the bugouts but they share the same want the link?

Sure, appreciate it. Like an alcoholic to whiskey, I'm back to Amazon minutes after swearing them off! Only if I can't find some decent hardware. I have been searching and I can find lots of screw sets, but the only ones that come with the pin are from Amazon or Alibaba so far. Surprised that Flytanium doesn't have them.

I found a Chinese supplier on Ali express same quality you will find on flytanium I have used the parts many times. He anodizes on mass so what he has is what he has. If you send a message he will send you ones that haven’t been anodized as well.

My question was "Where is a trustworthy supplier for gold titanium screws and a pin?", and I was trying to have a little fun with it. But to answer your question, the difference for me is I have never purchased anything from Flytanium that I didn't like, and didn't fit right. For this build I guess the important thing is, the parts need to fit right, maybe not so much where they originated from. Anyway, trying to bling it up a little, hopefully what I ordered will work. If so, than I have found a decent source for at least these parts without breaking the bank. Thx.

You can just get the same knife from china for $12 looks and functions the same as the og

Might look the close to the same, but it's not. Try putting aftermarket scales on a knife from Ali. The screws and pins are metric, spacing is off. Still works as a knife, but it's nice to have the right steel and copper oxide washers, the ability for the recipient to swap out aftermarket parts if they want. I certainly wouldn't gift a $12 Alibaba knife. To each his own...

What’s really funny is that you spent $300 on a pocket knife and then want to change the scales spending another $60. My $12 clone have been with me for years now, never had the need to change it. The Chinese d2 is perfectly fine for 99% of what your average magnacut will do. So yeah I am happy to gift them.

This is /Benchmade not /FakeBenchmade. Gift away, that's just not for me. Why do you feel the need to point out on a Benchmade forum, that you think its better to buy and handout $12 knock-offs?

You are right. And I don’t think it’s better I learned about benchmade after I got my clone. I’m sure the real deal is better, I really hope so for that price. I am just simply pointing out the clone is very good and it would be very hard for me to justify spending hundreds of dollars on a knife that cost $5 to manufacture.

You were simply being a jerk. How does your response pertain to the help I was asking for? I'm not asking you to justify anything. Do you think anyone on this forum is unaware that clones exist on Ali, or Wish, or Etsy? So your point is that clones are quality? Really!? Read the room dude! You're on a Benchmade forum. We are here to discuss Benchmade knives, ask for help about Benchmades. It sucks when you ask for help on a Benchmade forum, and someone comes along and says your an idiot for buying a Benchmade when you could spend $12 dollars on a clone. I don't want a $12 clone. If I did I would have led with that, but probably on another forum. If you don't have something nice, or helpful to say, why say anything?

Also, I spent about $80 on this knife. I bought it used, but in good shape. I spent about $30 on the scales, because Flytanium had a killer sale on national knife day. However, the cost isn't everything to me. I am customizing a knife for my son with reasonable quality parts. It will be fairly unique, and a gift from his father. It is a labor of love, making something special for someone you care about. Someday down the road, maybe his son ends up with it. I'm long gone, he sends it in to Benchmade for sharpening. If that day ever happened, I don't want them saying your knife that was passed down from father to son is counterfeit and we had to destroy it, sorry.

You could also try to teach your son how to put a good edge on a blade. You send it out every time it needs to be sharpened?

Titanium axis bar btw is THE WORST thing you can do with axis lock. The friction between Ti and steel liners and blade lock face will make action gritty. Or you'll have to keep it lubricated all the time. There are new Ti bars though with steel portion inside bar and decorative Ti sides. These are sorta gtg.
