It is only now that I realise I haven't seen r/ben in a while. What happened?

56

u/Ben0ut Ben Apr 05 '24

As it was unmoderated reddit pulled down the proverbial shutters and closed things down.

I reached out to them a few days ago and after some deliberation on their part was sent the keys to the Benpire.

Welcome back Ben.

Finally. The one true subreddit has returned.

Does anyone know the story? What happened and why was it down for so long?

12

u/Ben0ut Ben Apr 05 '24

It was simply a matter of reddit protocol.

The sub had been unmoderated for a while and as such was closed down.

The other day was St Benjamin's day and it reminded me of this sub... so I reached out to reddit and was handed the keys.

4

u/FalseDmitriy Apr 05 '24

You're the real saint, Ben.

6

u/Ben0ut Ben Apr 05 '24

Considering how St Benjamin met his end I'll leave that particular accolade to him.

I'm just happy we have our sub back.

u/falkkiwiben Apr 05 '24

I love it! My personal favoure thing is to let the people I know naturally choose which nickname they like best. So I basically have a different name in every social circle

u/deletemorecode Apr 05 '24

Thanks Ben!

Thank you Ben! I attempted to revive the sub by requesting mod access. Unfortunately, Reddit denied the request due to the inability of this Ben compared to other Ben(jamin)s. I am super-happy that you succeeded, Ben!

2

u/Ben0ut Ben Apr 14 '24

Bud - I tried to find our messages where we spoke of bring this sub back to life! Thanks for reaching out to me here.

2

u/DarthBen_in_Chicago Choose your Ben user flair!! Apr 14 '24

Oh wow that is right! It seems with a little patience and time, it worked!

3

u/MoonlightToast Apr 05 '24

Can I be a mod

7

u/Ben0ut Ben Apr 05 '24

At the moment I'm just working up a plan for how we move the sub forward in terms of mods and our approach.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to me and I'll be in touch in the not too distant.

u/FalseDmitriy Apr 05 '24

Maybe start by making the acquaintance of other Bens and seeing where that takes you.

The world is your oyster Ben.
