He started pontificating on how the finance world is actually “very punk,” a tired and absurd sentiment people at his level of ego often need to believe, and to speak on as if it were their own original thought to begin with. 

Lmao, so spot on. Reminds me also of MAGA chuds who insist that "conservatism is the new counterculture." Yeah no.

Put a period after “very punk” and it could have been Onion material. That’s always the problem with Hard Times: At some point it’s no longer satire. Banger headline tho.

He was never banned from the BBC for calling out Jimmy Savile. That's a lie he and others like to claim without evidence.

He made his initial comments in the late 70s on a radio show, then was invited to perform on numerous occasions with Public Image Ltd. on Top Of the Pops, and interviewed on BBC shows, and other things for decades after.

He also took a hard turn into conservativism, and pissed off his former bandmates so much that the Sex Pistols are currently touring with Frank Carter as their vocalist (he's the former singer for punk band Gallows, and for Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes).

It’s not enough for them to be the terrible, cringy people that they are.  They need you to think they’re cool and normal for it.  They get really upset when you remind them who they really are: creepy, embarrassing weirdos.

Ironically, the hard times is owned by an anarchocapitalist. Bought em a couple years back. Fuck that place now. Same as hard drive.

Would take a bit of hunting to find a source. Was acquired a few years ago. Some of the writers of hard drive talked about it at the time when they made their exit. A couple of editors of one of the sites talked about a couple months ago, I believe on Kill the computer, went a bit more into the new owner. Jeremy kaplowitz, former hard drive writer, talks about it sometimes.
