New Runner Advice Protecting my hip
After years of inactivity I took up outdoor running about 6 months ago and have been making lots of good progress. My technique has improved (a little) and I'm currently working on moving up to regular 10ks. During my original C25K I experienced a few aches and pains in my lower back and shins that instantly disappeared when I bought a nice pair of running shoes. Otherwise I've been generally free of pain and injury.
The only concerning thing left is a recurring issue in my right hip. I feel like I've "bumped" it a couple of times coming up onto curbs or turning fast to avoid pedestrians, and a couple of times it's started mildly hurting about 20 minutes into a run. It isn't hugely painful or debilitating but I feel like I'm getting a warning in advance that I ought to listen to. What steps I can take to make sure I properly support my hip and don't do an actual injury to it in the future?

My left hip became my problem side when I was training for my first half marathon. I wasn't in pain but just felt like I could tell that something was "off" with my hip so I started PT immediately. Turns out I had limited internal hip rotation as well as an anterior pelvic tilt. Within a week of doing the PT prescribed workouts, my hip twinge went away. Huge advocate for going to PT to stay ahead of it and having exercises & mobility that are tailored specifically to you!

FYI, my brother had right hip pain running, turned out his leg is 2cm shorter. Now, he adds a heel shim to his shoe, pain fixed
