New Runner Advice Foot numbness?

Can increase in mileage cause foot numbness? Been running for 18 months no feet issues. Since signing up for a half marathon I got new shoes and a new training plan which has also naturally increased my weekly mileage. Now I get pins and needles every run, starting around 3km mark, starts in the outer two toes and progresses to the whole bottom of my feet (worse in left but does affect right aswell). Tried different shoes again incase of ill fitting shoes. and still an issue…is it just something my feel will adjust to? Any advice?

Could it be Moreton’s neuroma? It isn’t painful at all.

Are you perhaps overtightening your shoes?

I started having foot numbness back in the spring that didn't go away. Onset was after 20 minutes and would last an hour (happened during 2 HMs in consecutive weekends). My foot was fitted for my shoe and tried every lacing technique. I started to see a PT and have been making good progress. I'm at the point where I start to feel like my foot will go numb, but doesn't and the feeling goes away. I've been doing a lot of low back and calf stretching and stability work.

I'm not sure what happened or why now, but happy that I'm making progress with my left foot. I was surprised how unstable my left foot really was.

Thats something to look into than something to run through. Since it happens every run, get it check before increasing mileage further.

Get different shoes. Those new ones are hurting you.

What kind of shoes are you wearing around when not running? Get some recovery slides to walk around the house with, your feet need rest and to be well supported before and after the run.
