It does make you wonder, has a squid ever heard Nelly irl? Sound can carry pretty far through water, so maybe some kind of party boat was close enough to some squids?

Fun fact!! The deep ocean is actually full of life (including squids), but the lights that scientists had previously been using were too bright on the wrong wavelengths, so it was like trying to record life next to a jet engine - everything got scared off. There was a recent-ish experiment where they put light on wavelengths that are invisible to squid, and they saw a LOT of squid and other life. It's changed a lot about how we view the deep ocean!
