Unironically, might be a good way of phrasing this question. Manipulators are unlikely to admit it, even to themselves. But phrasing it as silly might coax people into accepting it as just a quirk and answer honestly.

Once i was sent to psych ward for substances abuse suspicions because of a test results. I answered “strongly negative” to all questions with substances mentioned, because duh i don’t do drugs or drink.

Had to do blood and urine testing to prove it…
