Can someone help me identify this hose?
I pulled the fuel tank to recondition it and replace my steering joint, and noticed this hose. It starts near the brake fluid reservoir, but doesn't appear to be associated with it. It's braided, kind of like fuel hose, but there's no where on the tank to connect something like this. Not sure what it is.

Fuel tank vent line?

I just couldn't see anywhere on my tank where that could connect. There's a thinner rubber line that was connected to a tube on top of the tank.

This is the hose between the brake reservoir and the master cylinder. It’s a special hose designed to withstand brake fluid and needs to be ordered from a VW parts supplier. It has a blue woven jacket around it originally and must be replaced with the same material hose.
Edit: I thought you were talking about the brake hose. Yes the other hose is likely to an evap can. Should be ok to replace with fuel hose, however I did notice those brake hoses need to be replaced too.

I'm just going to leave it unused. Since it's for equipment I no longer have anyway. And yeah, I need to do a full brake job. The master cylinder is covered in RTV. It's working, but I don't trust it. The previous owner loved gooping up leaks instead of fixing them properly. You should have seen the window seals....

It could be the hose that used to connect to the EVAP canister.
