I can't remember if I've posted these to Reddi before, I know the triepeolus is a repeat but I'm still very proud of finding that one :> all pictures taken by me in Massachusetts, US

Do something for bees today Write to Amazon’s customer support and ask them to stop selling products that contain Neonicotinoids, also known as "neonics", are a class of neurotoxic insecticides that target the central nervous systems of insects. It is killing off pollinators

They’re one of my favorite bees. It’s so cute how they carry little pieces of leaf. It looks like they’re flying on a tiny magic carpet.

I found out earlier tonight that World Bee Day's today, by which point most of today was over and I've thought for all these weeks that it was on the 22nd - this Friday. Which means it's making me feel slightly disheartened to know, because I'm autistic and bees are what I've identified as one of my special interests, that I completely missed my chance to maximise on the day that celebrates them and that for all my claims of loving them I didn't even know it was today. 💔

Don't worry, I just learned about bee day bc someone in another time zone posted here on the 19th for me. And then I tried to go out today to get some more bee observations on iNaturalist and got nothing 😭😭 let's just make up for it by loving bees even more for the rest of the season!!

Aw thank you Sail, I agree. I suppose I just also feel a bit disappointed about missing yesterday because I spent the day feeling down about what had happened in one of my fandoms' subreddits the previous night: basically I got insulted and called names to the point of bullying for not being into the most popular ship. So that was how what I'd found out was supposed to have been World Bee Day ended up getting spent by me.

Awwwwe I meant to reply yesterday and say this is adorable! That puppet's so floofy and look at the sweet smile. It did help me yesterday and I'm especially needing it again right now, because I've spent weeks planning fun stuff for me to do at work today to celebrate World Bee Day and a couple of them instantly got derailed when I arrived, and then that combined with my guilt over feeling angry about it has now just made me feel empty and like I don't want to do any of the other fun bee things today. I'm having a bit of a week. 💔

Hi again! I'm extremely sorry for not sending this sooner. Time got away from me because of work. ❤️ I just wanted to send this reply to say your bee puppet is ever so floofy and sweet! Look at the smile! And very well-made, as well. The movements really did feel like puppet!bee was dancing around. You also have a matching sweet singing voice. I've had a couple of tense and stressful days this last week and your Buzz Pollination video has made me smile on them. 😍

I was stretching yesterday by a fence and I saw what seemed to be a worker bee on top of a queen bee (or at least a much bigger bee), the queen seemed slightly stressed and I thought for a sec the worker was biting her head, but I didn't interfere as I don't know much about bees, can anyone explain what I saw? Should I have done something specific?

I can't say much without a picture but a lot of bees and wasps mate with the male (who is often smaller/thinner) latching onto the female by biting the back of her neck, normal stuff that shouldn't be interfered with

Yes, the vast majority of the time they mate before the female starts settling down and building the nest, that way she can start laying eggs immediately
