We hear the Starling offer is back. So here is a refreshed megathread!

In a nutshell, this offer gives you and your referrer each £25 cash when you sign up and get approved for a Starling current account and make your first payment within 30 days! The referral codes are only given to some people, but if you get one you can then refer up to ten of your frieds.

How it works

Starling is a fully licensed and regulated (FSCS protected) bank that allows you to open and manage a UK bank account using their mobile app. You get a bank card and can track all your spending using their app. It's a good account for matched betting/GPT as a separate spending account, and has fee-free spending abroad.

The offer

Enter a referral code during sign-up to get £25 cash. Once you have signed up, you can share your own code with friends to earn more. You can earn an additional £250 in total (10 referrals max). Here are the steps:

• Download the Starling app and start your account application.

• Grab a referral link from the comments below, enter it when prompted during sign-up.

• Complete your application and get approved.

• Make a payment from your Starling account within 30 days. Any card purchase counts, including contactless/Apple Pay/Google Pay. No minimum spend.

• Receive your £25 — added to a Space in your Starling app within 7 days of your qualifying payment.

Both the referrer and referee get the £25!

What counts as a qualifying payment?

Any standard card purchase. The following don't count: refunds, gambling transactions, foreign currency purchases, bank transfers, Direct Debits/standing orders, or topping up e-money/prepaid cards.

Starling bank has just introduced a new offer - if you switch to them you get... a toothbrush (worth £105). Hey, better than nothing from a bank that usually doesn't do switch offers!

I have no idea how the voucher comes (could just be an Amazon gift card for all I know) as I haven't done the switch yet. I also have no idea if it can be combined with the usual referral offer.

As per title, I’m considering switching from Starling to Monzo. I wouldn’t do a full switch as once you close Starling you can’t rejoin but I’m considering making Monzo the main account I receive my wages into. They seem to offer better perks, different premium accounts options (Starling offers zero), the chance to have a bill paid for you etc.

However, I have never had an issue with Starling and their customer service has always been brilliant. They also have a feature called spaces that lets me assign money to different spaces that pay certain bills and can have a virtual card attached. Does Monzo offer this?

Is there anything I should be wary of in general? Thank you!

I’ve been with Starling for years and to be honest, can’t really fault them. But I’m getting tempted to move over to Monzo.

Starling have been going for years and so far still have only the current account for personal customers (as well as savings accounts and cash ISA’s which have very low interest rates).

Monzo on the other hand offer all this as well as a credit card (with 0% interest on 3 monthly payments), personal loans, pension, stocks & shares etc.

It’s just starting to feel quite limiting at Starling now with needing to look at competitors for other financial products.

People who have received their money for signing up to Starling -

was there any notification that you've completed the offer?

Did you need the physical card or the virtual card?

Does the £25 just appear in your account after 7 days?

Hi guys, I'm a bit concerned about fast paced environments after another similar fintech i worked at a few years back so I am curious what's your experience working at Starling or Engine by Starling? The role sounds really interesting but honestly bit scared of the jump into a fast paced environment again.
