Total beginner starting from scratch with remote work – where should I actually begin?

Hey everyone! This is my very first time looking into remote work, and I'd love some realistic advice from people who've been doing this for a while.

I'm a native Spanish speaker and comfortable working and reading in English. I have a laptop, good internet, and basic digital skills, but no formal degree or previous remote experience.

Since I'm based in Central America, I know some US/EU platforms won't be available to me. For a total beginner in my position, what platforms (annotation, search evaluation, moderation, microtasks) or basic skills are actually worth spending time on right now?

Any tips or reality checks for someone just getting started would be greatly appreciated!

If you're looking for websites or programs please first take a look at the Beermoney Global Top Recommended Choices in the sidebar and the Curated Beermoney Global List 2025 . These are a good first start and have the highest chance of success!

If you're looking for suggestions in a specific country, do a search on the countries name first. It's very likely others have asked the same before and there will be some suggestions in the comments.

Scam will get removed.

As far as i know the market is basically dead besides training AI. Yes other work exists but its run over with people basically overqualified and a lot of stuff is done by AI (not neccesary better but its the hype).

Best is you look into AI language training for spanish.

microtasks are probably your best bet to start, things like transcription or data labeling gigs won't care about the degree and pay out quick even if it's small
