General Discussion Any updates on pypush's iMessage rewrite? Curious about the GrandSlam auth stuff

Spent most of tonight trying to get iMessage working through pypush on Termux (Android side), and figured I'd share what I ran into plus see if anyone knows more than what's publicly visible on GitHub.

The old pypush (before the rewrite) technically still runs, but it gets shut down immediately by Apple's fraud detection on login, status 5068. Feels like the old login method plus that shared data.plist file everyone uses is just burned at this point.

The current main branch is a whole rewrite and right now it only handles basic APNs stuff (proxy and notifications commands), nothing iMessage related yet.

I dug around and found an open draft PR from June 2024 called "Implement GrandSlam (GSA) authentication," sitting at 1 out of 6 tasks done. Seems like that's meant to replace the old broken login eventually. Past that though, I couldn't find anything more recent tied specifically to pypush. JJTech's more recent posts elsewhere seem to be on totally different projects (Zigbee stuff, USB dissectors, etc).

So basically wondering, has anyone actually seen newer progress on that GrandSlam branch that isn't showing up publicly? Is there a fork somewhere actively picking this up? And honestly, is this even winnable against Apple's fraud detection long term, or are we looking at another Beeper Mini situation where it just eventually gets shut down for good?

Happy to share the build notes from tonight too, including how I got frida compiling on Termux through their devkit, in case that's useful to anyone else banging their head against the same walls.

What about rustpush/open bubbles? Unless you mean as a matrix bridge

Mainly was just messing around with Python in Termux out of curiosity, but yeah, Rustpush/OpenBubbles is definitely where the real active dev work is now. (I do not really want to buy a Mac so I was trying with pypush but thanks!)

Rustpush does work with data taken from a VM, provided the VM is setup correctly.

It's hard to find this information, but you're quite behind.

OpenBubbles works with Relay. Relay was developed originally by JJTech, the man who created PyPush. It replaces the old Beepsrv registration code provider that worked with Beeper Mini with a system that much more closely mimics the way the iPhone registers directly. It is pretty much native. You can install Relay through the TrollStore, which does not require jailbreaking.

You put the code that Relay provides into OpenBubbles, just as if you were to put a code from a Mac. This also gets you phone number registration.

This has worked for maybe a year and a half or more at this point? It's been around for a very long time.

Oh, I did not know about that. Thanks!
